DreamFinder™ is an advanced search functionality that allows users to search for stock images using different keywords and criteria of selection.
The feature includes the following elements:
–search field: user can include one or more keywords
–type of search:
–new search: performs a complete new search after the selected keyword
–within results: performs a search among the results of previous search
–filename/ID: performs a search after the filename or the ID of a photo located on Dreamstime.com® servers
–image price: level 1, level 2 or level 3: performs a search based on price criteria; the “levels” are defining the price between images on Dreamstime.com
–content filter: performs a search including or excluding content that can be considered as sensitive: artistic nudes, images that can be considered as violent
–match all | match any: display only images that include all terms inserted in the search field or the ones that match any of the terms
–exclude keywords: display only images that do not contain the terms entered in this field
–photographer: display only the work of a specific photographer (after user name, or full name)
–only with model release: search returns only images that have a MR document attached
–resolution: search returns only images that match a specific resolution scale
–image properties:
–performs a search after photographs only, illustrations only or both.
–performs a search after color images, monochromatic images (bw, sepia, coloured tones) or both
–orientation: display only images that match a specific value between width vs. height:
–portrait
–landscape
–square
–panorama
What makes this feature unique is the ability to refine a search using a complete set of tools and exclusion criteria, refining it not based only on a keyword but also on other criteria.
Other agencies will not provide the feature of searching within the results of a previous search, while adding new criteria to the new search.
For example, using our feature:
Searching after the term “business” and selecting only “Photos” but unchecking the “Illustrations” checkbox will return only photographs. Doing a new search within results and selecting “Illustrations” this time , while unchecking “Photos”, will bring no results.
This happens because Illustrations and Photographs are two separate things. Illustrations are usually created by a designer with a computer program or by hand, while photographs are created with a camera or via a photographic process.
Using the same search process on other stock agencies sites will bring results. It happens because their system triggers the “within results” criteria only for the keyword itself (“business” in our example), while the rest of the criteria selection (“only photos” or “only illustrations”) are ignored.
At a first glance this may seem as an example that is not useful, because the search didn't bring any result. We consider this to be the advantage of our system because the buyer is allowed to refine his/her search within results over and over, until he finds the exact item he is looking for, without receiving results that he is in fact not interested in.
For example,
1.one can search after the term “business”, only photographs.
2.Within the results, he can search only for the term “people”, which will bring a large amount of images depicting business people.
3.Considering the amount of results is high, he/she will refine the search by excluding the keyword “woman” so the new results will provide images that do not include a woman within the images.
4.A new search can be performed within results after the term “team” and that will bring mostly images of teams with men.
5.In order to match his design and usage, a new search can be performed after image orientation “portrait”. That will display images that are vertical in orientation (height of the image is greater than the width).
Note that all searches at #2-#5 above are performed within the results of the previous search.
HistorySearch
The example above also illustrates our other feature History Search: this is a functionality that memorizes the searches a user performed, allowing him/her to return to a specific stage within the process, while also choosing the exact stage by reviewing the criteria he/she selected.
At this stage the History search can display the last performed searches, providing the user with full details about the search he/she performed. Note that the system memorizes all searches performed within the last session (since the user accessed the site). If he leaves the site and closes the browser, the feature will be reseted.
