Color influences the way we experience and react to the world around us. Grey usually reads sorrow, red means courage while yellow often inspires wisdom. For a lovely visual experience, we have declared PINK as this month's color and assignment topic. So think pink thoughts and let's all get pretty in pink!

Blushing cheeks, a ballerina tutu, the breast cancer ribbon, a princess' clothes, all things commonly associated and assimilated as pink are pretty good for this assignment but pretty please, make sure you include them in elaborate contexts, preferably with people. And by all means, don't stop at stereotypes! Pink is said to be the color of love, beauty, youth and happiness so we're mainly looking for that pink feeling that gives you butterflies in the stomach, optimism, hope and good mood. Let's see people wearing pink but most of all, feeling in the pink! Pink is usually interpreted as sweet, feminine and sensual so we're looking to experience the pink softness and delicacy of flowers, textures or fabrics as well. Don't forget that pink is also the color of calmness and relaxation. Pink interiors, pink furniture, pink wallpaper are pretty hot for this assignment and we want to see extraordinary pink settings. Pink is always pretty and everything looks pretty in pink so make sure we see prettiness in different shades of pink. We're looking forward to an explosion of blush, coral, flesh, flush, hot pink, fuchsia, magenta, raspberry, rose or salmon.

Prettiest pink images will be awarded with $300 for the first place, $200 for the second place and $100 for the third place. The winners will also get our Dreamstime branded t-shirts to look pretty on any occasion. For girls, these also come in pink.

Pink luck :).

Cool-o - I have a pink image in my queue. I'm thinking Molly Ringwald, John Hughes and The Psychedelic Furs. You young whippersnappers have no idea what I'm talking about.

"Is there really such a thing as pink light ?
According to scientists, no, there isn't. Pink is a combination of red and violet, colours that occur at opposite ends of the spectrum. When you look at an object that is pink you are seeing certain wavelengths of light reflecting back at you rather than the light itself being pink; in essence pink is a made up colour - your brain is creating it through the translation of light bouncing off of objects."

Alvera - I had the same problem. My image was selected (I received an email) and it was even shown on the accepted photos page for a few hours and then POOF it was gone. I was told to resubmit.

Now it seems a second image I submitted has just vanished from my submitted photos and isn't anywhere. Not accepted, not rejected, just gone.

I'd like to submit an image I have in my portfolio but that I don't find in my computer. How could I do?

Alvera - that stinks. My resubmitted photo made it in. I'm so relieved because it was an image that I took specifically for the assignment - time, money, effort and all that jazz. Cool thing is that it has already sold too!

I submitted another one that disappeared and I've resubmitted. I have my fingers crossed.

I think the Bermuda Triangle or the Twilight Zone has landed somewhere in the Assignments department this time around.
