W-8BEN Question.

Stgachco
Hi again...

Right now i'm exhausted trying to understand how to complete the W-8BEN certificate. I'm very bad for those things because i've never do it before. I've been reading others pots but i didn't find anything.

I live in Spain but i'm from Venezuela. Can somebody explain me, if not annoying you, what should I do? How can i get the U.S. Taxpayer Identification Number? What is SSN or ITIN, EIN? How do i get them? What's the Reference number? What is the W-7(SP)? Do i need to send this first? i don't know what they want.

Please, i need to understand it step by step. Which is the first thing i have to do?

Thank u a lot and sorry, i'm useless for these things.

My first question is do you need to do this yet??? It's been a while since I was new but does this need doing before you get your work on here? I would try getting stuff on here first, if for any reason you can't get uploads accepted or any sales then it's kind of a waste of time sorting your tax info out. It normally takes a while to hit your first $100 and lots of people never get to this stage.

Hi BCritchley. Maybe you are right but i asked it because when i was uploading the fixed photos i read this:

"You are citizen of a country with an income tax treaty with the US. Please ensure you have submitted the W8-BEN tax form in order to benefit of a 5.00% US withholding tax otherwise the maximum 30% will be deducted, generating less revenue for you."

So i thought it was something i had to do quickly. Is better to wait until my photos are accepted?

By the way... do you know if a costumer can show his pics in his own web even they're upload in dreamstime?

All contributors are required to upload a tax form if they are submitting images for sale. So yes, you need to upload this form from the beginning.
@Stgachco:
You can find all the info required in the FAQ section on the tax center page:
Link here
You can find answers to questions such as how to apply for ITIN, what parts you should fill in in the W8 form, if your country has a financial treaty with the USA etc. The W7 form is not for non-US citizens so you do not need to fill in this form.
You can submit your W8 form prior to obtaining the ITIN number and write in the field that you will apply for. After you obtain it, you can write to us and we can update the form.

For your second question: you can show your pics on your own personal website if you upload them on our site. You can do this even if you choose to work with our agency exclusively.

Ok, thanks Tangie. I did it like you say and the web told me that everything was ok, but know i don't know how to get the ITIN number. What happen if i don't sent it? In the FAQ i read that i need to fill first the W-7 but there are a lot o parts i don¡t have.

On the other hand, i have seen that dreamstime accepted some of my photos and that's great, honestly. But, do i have to do anything else? Why I can not find my photos when i make a simple search? Are they able for sale or not yet?

Hi everybody,
This question is mainly to be answered by the dreamstime team. I am flight attendant and a big part of my time I am living in Italy ( treaty tax 0%) but I am still resident in Spain (treaty tax 5%). I wanted to complete and send my W-8BEN form. But by default, in my account is written that my address is in Italy, and I can not change my resident to Spain in the W-8BEN before sending. In any case, all my documents: driving licence, bank letters, health charges letters prove my resident in Spain. And obviously, it is not for evading the treaty taxes as these are higher in Spain than Italy.
What can I do for finishing filling out my form if I can not change that field?
Can I change that field if next time I connect from my home in Spain?
Thanks,

You just need to write to support [@] dreamstime dot com and attach a photo ID stating the country you currently live in and we will change the country in your profile. This is an update only we can make. After we update your account, you can then access your My Account/Edit profile section to add your new address.

Thanks Tangie. I will try to do that. I do not have a webcam on this laptop, but I have a cell-camera and a digital one. Thanks!
