I have read some threads about how to search for your images on google images.

I tried it and this is what I get "The URL doesn't refer to an image, or the image is not publicly accessible." Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks in advance. Susan

Drag and drop any image, including a thumbnail into the google images site not the simple google search site.

images.google.com

Here's a how-to -
Google - Search by Image

When I dragged your image of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge into Google images I found it on a site called demotix - http://www.demotix.com/photo/767540/duke-and-duchess-cambridge-royal-tour-ottawa-canada-canada-day?popup=1 as well as the other sites it is for sale on. I was also able to find your other sellers on other sites where they are for sale. They are shown in the search list with a thumbnail and a link. I had no problem and got no message like the one you are getting. Perhaps it has something to do with the country you are in? I tried it in the google images site from Canada and it works as it should with your images. Which browser are you using, maybe that's the problem? I tried it in Firefox.

I have the same problem so try this way: right-click on the image on DT and copy the URL from properties.

First of all, you better save largest possible thumbnail (the comp image is the best choice) to your computer, then use either drag&drop or upload via clicking the tiny camera icon next to the search box. That's the safest and best way of searching. Using URL can cause problems sometimes.

I find that using Firefox works best when searching for my pictures in Google images. Simply open up Dreamstime in one tab, open Google images in a second tab and click on the "camera" icon in the Google image search box. Now simply drag your images from your portfolio or list of sales one at a time across to the Google image tab so it opens up, then just drop it in the search box. You can just keep going back and fourth doing this and it only takes seconds. There is no need to be saving large files, just simply use DT's thumbnail files as these work well.

I do not succeed with drag&drop but only by opening the image and copying the Url from properties.

@BCritchley; your two windows drag and drop shortcut is very useful. I didn't know that we can drag&drop images on google's image search. But if we use the files from a very small thumbnail (like list of sales) it will search for that little thumb, which won't be able to catch some of the results. That's why I suggested using larger images.

Firefox does work better and yes using the larger image does produce more results. thanks

I found images on gograph and fotosearch so I am assuming these are linked to Dreamstime, would I be correct in assuming this?

I use Chrome as my browser with Google search, I downloaded the picture search app, (small file) which means I can right click on any image, the box appears with
"search google with this image", in it. You just click on it. I can guarantee that it does search for all sizes of the picture, whether thumbnail or larger, so no messing about with url,s.

I'm not an admin and this is not an official reply :) but as far as I know, there are agencies linked to DT. If your image is on sale with your name...it's most probably legal.

As for Chrome, also for Firefox users there is an useful addon here. When you right click on any thumbnail, you can click "search google with this image" from the box menu that will open.

I was about to post about the addon that Francy874 mentions above. It is so simple to search for images once it is installed.
