Hi,
I set up my account just recently and I have some initial observations and questions. It would be great if you could write me some comments. My portfolio consists now of 43 pictures. All they were taken from my private collections from the past. I understand that photostock is already full of pictures like mine. I just wanted to speed up for receiving exclusive photographer status. If that happens, will the search placement change significantly? I mean will my photos be better exposed to the potential buyers? I think that my pictures are so common or just ones of plenty others that nobody is interested in them. That probably translates no sales so far. If you can please give me some comments on my pictures. Also I noticed that my views statistics are changing very slowly. Is it so that the views numbers are updated once per day or they are updated immediately once somebody watches them?
I will be grateful for a couple of comments you may have.
Have a nice day
Pepe

There are Contributors who have been here for several years and have yet to figure that out so you're way ahead of the learning curve.

But... it does no harm to upload old pictures from your archives.

Being exclusive will help you in the search engine but it is one of a number of variables. How much of an edge this gives you is not known.

I think your portofolio looks just fine. Even if I am not the most experimented (or seller) on DT, I only have three remarks.

1-I would try to add more keyword to your photos. You can look to similar images to have inspiration
2-Upload more!
3-If you can shoot model in situation, thoses are the best selling images.

In my personal feedback, becoming exclusive also helps me to increase my sells.

I don't think that being exclusive will put your images in front of better non exclusive images but it will put them in front of equal non exclusive images.
Your images are good but haven't all got high commercial value. You should start to plan shoots especially for stock and try to shoot images with clear concepts that could be used in advertising. Good luck.

The ones like the shipwreck catch my eye. I'm not sure, but photos like those aren't very common and might get picked by some buyer.
And exclusivity helps a lot I figure. With proper keywording, I have been able to get my flower and butterfly photos too within the top 400 results and I have even gotten quite a few sales on strange things like black winged stilts that I thought wouldn't sell because they are "too common". But still they did. So no harm in trying to put up old casual shots but don't expect anything big from "common shots".

But exclusivity helps for sure! I'm new and have tried and seen the difference.

Exclusivity + good keywords + useful, attractive image + same common thing in a different way = $$$

Hi Pepe14, the parliament pictures could be good sellers. My pictures of the brazilian congress sell quite well.
It might be a common subject, but its used quite often.
What you can do is look for the best selling of the images of the parliament, study which keywords they used and the concepts, you dont need to copycat, thats not the idea, learn from them, for instance I liked one night shot of the parliament that included the german flag, its a level 4 image now.
This is just an example, I think you got what I mean, right?
It wouldnt hurt working a bit more in the processing, fixing the vertical lines and darkening the skies, it could help a "normal" image becomes na outstading image.
Overall you are doing great, congrats on the portfolio you are building, cheers and have a great friday!
