I am not an exclusive DT contributor and use one other agency.
I do not want to make comparisons, as I am very happy with both but would appreciate any observations you may have with regards to one particular photo and which is on both sites.
It has sold 70 times on the other site but has only one sale on DT, even though the key wording is identical on both! Also, it has done so in half the time scale as that of DT i.e. 12/6 months approx.
The categories are different from a wording aspect although generally speaking they cover the same areas.
I would dearly love to achieve similar sales on DT for obvious reasons, and if you have any advice it would be greatly appreciated.
If this subject is taboo with regards to message board rules, please accept my sincere apologies and close the thread.

The most any single image has sold of the Sydney Harbour Panoramic is 65 dls at DT so it probably isn't what many of the DT buyers are looking for. Each site has a different customer base.

How do your portfolio sizes compare. As mentioned it could be that it is not a sought after image with DT buyers. Awesome image btw.

Thanks for posting.
If I understand you correctly Miraclemoments the portfolio sizes are exactly 2-1 in that I have twice as many images with DT than the other agency i.e. 112/56
I hadn't looked at it the way as suggested by Godfer in that only one image has achieved 65 downloads on DT and it's certainly better than mine.
Both agencies are comparable in size and exposure etc and I can't see the customer base being that different but I am no expert in microstock photography.
Thanks again for help.

You're welcome....I have again not ventured out to other agencies as yet although approved by another one.

Have you done a reverse comparison of an image possible selling well here and not on the other agency?

That is a very big difference. I actually can't see why the customer base would be that different either. I have been reading this same kind of response from many, about getting much better sales on some other sites, but I am not sure if that is true or not. I am exclusive here at DT, but have been wondering lately, should I be? Be nice to know from others that have dropped being exclusive, if it was the best thing they ever did or was it a mistake?

This is the first site I have ever uploaded too...so I have no experience with other sites.

I too am no expert on customer bases, but there is no doubt that I have a lot more sale on a couple of other agencies than I have on Dreamstime - with allmost the same portfolio. On the other two agencies it is different images that is the top sellers which might point in the direction of different customer bases from agencie to agencie.

i'm quite new to dreamstime. i've also been wondering if it is worth it to be exclusive here. i know my portfolio isn't great as far as stock photography goes but even so, sales are so slow i'm losing my faith.

Luisricardo13: I was really, really slow here too but since going exclusive last week I already have a sale. I have heard the same from people about better sales elsewhere too, but with my small (and weak) portfolio i really did not notice any difference, although when I closed my accounts at the other sites and stated in the reason why that I planned to go exclusive with Dreamstime then all of a sudden they sounded very concerned that they would like me to stay with them, and to return if I change my mind. well, only reason I'll change my mind would be if DT gets bought out by someone else. Yuri has sold almost 1000 photos in the last week here at DT. Granted, he has 35k online and most are top quality, but i figure if mine don't sell then it is not the fault of DT, i just need to step up my game to a new level... in my case that would be better group shoots with better compositions and themes. Actually I am in the process of stepping up now... keep uploading, DT will come through, if not on this photo then on something else.

35k online and 1000 sales a week?
Nice...I hope I get that uploads:sales ratio one day. :D
Thanks for the numbers Mudplucker. Encouraging. You could do blog posts if you're studying anything in detail. At least I'm interested.

Robinstockphotos: I don't study numbers much, but there was talk about Yuri taking all photos off of 1 site, making some changes at another site and then no new uploads here at DT in over a month when he normally has about 400. I happened to notice his sales numbers here and then watched them grow day by day until they were between 800-900 after 6 days..... but yeah, Yuri is a class act with lots of talent and worked his way up the ladder over the years...

I have a question in regards to submission timeline....I just sent some in, for my first time, and it said that eta was about 127 hours. Is this normal or is this only for newbies like me?

That's normal. Nobody gets faster reviews just because they have been here longer. Don't take too much notice of the time given as it can go up at weekends and then suddenly get reviewed when it has 40 hours left. It's only and estimated time not an exact one.

Thank you so much Godfer; this really helps. I did submit just before the weekend, this past Thursday, and I heard the rejection rate is high. I guess I am just anxious to get it going.
