I would just like to thank the DT staff for reviewing my latest illustrations so quickly. Have you been recruiting? :)

I have been getting some extreme "composition" rejections. They really don't allow any experimenting anymore. :/

ALL images MUST be rule of thirds and golden ratio compliant? That really limits copy space in some otherwise good photos.

Maybe you must apply for Image Editor Position - Remote :) and make a revolution. The rule of third must be braked! Viva la Revolucion!

Seriously, I'm talking about images like the following. I no longer feel like uploading images like these because I'm pretty sure they would be rejected for not following the conventional rules.
But you cannot really have a different composition in photos like this.
1/3 rd sky - no copy space, clumsy shot
1/3rd city - buildings no longer fit in the frame comfortably.

Put the sky line in between - rejection.

Frustrating.
In the second photo, it has sold good. (Not my photo), but I had quite some very similar ones rejected for poor composition. Just because the building didn't exactly fit in where it "always should be". And that was impossible to do without making the shot ugly.

Yes-thank you for increasing the limit and speeding up the reviews! I also got an obviously personalized comment on a photo I resubmitted: "There is a strange line across the dog's face." I didn't see it and I haven't checked yet to see what it is-but it is nice that somebody took the time to let me know exactly what was wrong, especially when I am sure that they deal with a lot of volume. I am so happy to be exclusive with DT!

Robin, composition is not related only to golden ratio. Colors are involved too.

Just write to support and ask for explanation. The golden ratio message is a generic one. They will explain in detail the problem for a specific rejected image. Put the ID of one image, not many.
Be confident, the answer will come. I remember one of mine, the editor also attached a crop from my image to make me understand where the problem was. We are here to learn and make money together. Good luck.

Okay. I'll upload some like that if they look perfect except for such composition issues and then if they get rejected..... time to bug the reviewers a bit. :)

Robin, I would say the composition is a bit unballanced, too much masses to the left and the color looks a bit weird, maybe a bit of purple, not really natural, in an image that was supposed to have natural colors.
If you crop a bit of the ground and corrected the color I think it would look better.
Sorry, we are not supposed to be discussing rejections here..., my fault.

Afagundes Thanks for the feedback! They were not my photos, just similar to mine. I'd probably assemble a few images outside DT in an album and ask for critique on composition in the forums. I'm sure that is allowed. :)

I have to say guys and gals, dont be afraid of querying rejections, reviewers can be wrong, as can anyone else in the world. Two of mine that where initially rejected, are good sellers for me.

I checked out the career section and the English to Japanese Translator and proof reader position available. Requirement.......Native speaker of Japanese with excellent command of English
It's funny how everyone thinks that native speakers of a given language are the only ones qualified to do translation and language teaching. Your'e missing out on a lot of great talent with that requirement. Just my two cents worth.
