Suggestions to upgrade the Camera

Iparun
Hi Guys,

Currently am using Canon 500D and like taking landscape and night scene shots. Based on the pictures I have taken any suggestions what should be my next Camera and lens. I have Canon Mark III on my mind but please suggest your views.

Thanks,
Arun

I would definitely move up to a full frame. With Canon you only have 3 choices of bodies I believe .. the Mark III, 6D or 1DX .. now if you don't already have a collection of Canon FX lenses (not DX lenses) .. then you also have the option of switching to Nikon which gives you much more choices in new full frame bodies. There's the D600, 610, 800, 800E, D3X, D4 and DF.

Take future gear budget into account. If there are longer gaps of time between major gear purchases .. opt for a cheaper full frame and put the leftover money towards building a collection of good glass ... I'd much rather have a lower-grade body and a good selection of amazing lenses than a top of the line body and nothing but cheap kit lenses.

For night and landscapre, 6D is enought I would say.

5dmark III give a more precise AF.
If you go for a 6D, you will be able to invest the money in good lenses.

If you can afford 5DIII+ L lenses, go ahead you will not regret it.

Be aware that going from an APSC to a FF you will have to learn to use a FF (expcially for focus!). But at the end the difference it important!

Thanks guys Canon 6D seems to be a good option. Should I opt the 24-105 F4 kit lens Or go for any wide angle lens to start with?

May I ask why you think you have to upgrade, other than goping full frame what would these cameras give you?

I would like to ask also what is the best wide lens for 6D?? Any idea? I am considering to buy 6D and 50 f/1.2, I have 70-200/f4 and 400 f/5.6. What wide lens should I buy??

Thanks.

Our suggestion also is to go for 6d. We've been using it for a couple of months now and are loving it. 24-105mm is good enough to start. If you can afford go with 24-70mm f2.8 and then grab a 70-200mm or 70-300mm by canon or tamron...whatever you may like. We've just bought these lenses and 24-105mm is staying idle. :)

The existing camera canon 500D performs very well in good light but during low light I find it difficult to focus and end up with underexposed/out of focus images unless I use tripod.

According to the best lens, I would simply say: the more expensive, the better.

I would use the 5D MarkIII, the package is overall best.

I am thinking 6D vs. 5DIII too.

I understand 5DIII has a better autofocus points and preciseness, but it is about two times the price of 6D.

I think I would go for 5DIII plus 24 - 70 f4 and 50 f1.2, but overall is a very big investment. Any comment?

Has anyone used both Nikon D600 and Canon 6D? Which one stands out better?
