Not a dumb question at all! I'm curious to see what others do, too!
One way to promote your portfolio would be to use the tools here. Put these badges anywhere that you maintain a presence on the web (unless of course it would not be complementary to Dreamstime!)
I have a photostream on Flickr and have posted the badges on my profile page there. In addition, whenever I have a photograph accepted here, I put a copy in my Dreamstime set on Flickr and note in the description that the photo is available for purchase at Dreamstime. I've also gotten two referral members that way! Flickr gets picked up by Google searches a lot, so that might increase your traffic. Be sure to tag your photos with "Dreamstime", and try to include similar or the same keywords.
Also, you can write blogs here on Dreamstime, which are viewed by quite a few people. You can feature your own portfolio or write about pretty much anything.
I am pretty much a newbie myself but that is what I've accomplished so far. Looking forward to hearing other ideas too. |

Ive attempted the dreamstime thing but cant people just right click and save the images on there?
How do you stop ppl just saving it?
Also could i get your flickr name so i could add you would be interested to see your port

Anton, my Flickr name is AmyEmilia and here is my photostream on Flickr. I have restricted access to the photos so that only users designated as family or friends can download. And I keep that list pretty small - only people I really trust. I'm not too paranoid about it. If they are going to steal it they will and there isn't much I could do to prevent it. |

Also another way to promote your portfolio is to create a collection. I think collections are fun, and have several. |

Sales are REALLY dog slow for me on DT. Any ideas I can get are warmly welcome. Seems to me that ever since the Asian connection happened my sales fell off the face of the planet. Could be coincidence I suppose. Or the summer blues started early:(. |

I have my own website with a section dedicated to stock. In addition I use my referral link in my signature of emails, as well as that I have a referral link underneath all my posts in forums. It helps to get your link out as much as possible.

Man you guy are making me think I need a Flicker account, but what keeps people from right clicking and saving your pics...do you all put on your own watermarks like stock sites? |

thanks Amyemilia for your tip... I have had one but well I didn't think about it and I have already many way to put my picture on line. But it seems a good idea
I can't find my account on flickr (rrrr....all these accounts names and passwords)

Nice collection, Melast! You'll need to include a few more photographers before it becomes public - Dreamstime wants at least 5 different photographers in the collection. That makes it more than a self-promotion vehicle.
You weren't kidding about the banners! Your Flickr profile page is crammed with them! :)
I've visited Flickr and added you and Khwi and Anton to my contact list...
