Description: On September 18, 1799, the German naturalist Alexander Humboldt visited the Guacharos cave; It is located 4km from the nearest town which is Caripe del Guácharo northern Monagas State, Venezuela. It is carved in sedimentary rocks formed 130 million years ago in high school was in an ancient sea. Mountainous landscape of rugged terrain, given by a very dense hydrography resulting in narrow valleys strongly limited by steep slopes. Guácharo Cave was the first declared National Monument in Venezuela on 15 July 1949, under the name of Alejandro de Humboldt.
