240 $ in one sale!

© Panaite ( Help)
Today, among other sales, I was surprised to find a "sell the rights" license of an image that has been online for over one year :) The designer paid 400$ and being an exclusive contribuitor, I have received 60%, which means 240$. That was a Level1 image, so this wasn't it's first sale. My question is: What happens with this file's previous RF License sales?

CONGRATS. it must be wonderful to see that wad of cash all at once for one sale. Although I wonder if I would take it if such an offer comes to me one day soon on Dreamstime. Selling the rights is difficult choice, as you weigh the potential earnings to the once in a lifetime payout.
Still, 240 bucks is a quick cash to buying something you have your eyes on. And waiting for a larger sum cumulative is merely speculative.
Good show.

Well done and good question re the previous sales. As for a buyer asking for a refund, there needs to be surety that your IP has not been given away - that is the buyer has the file of the image and then asks for a refund but keeps using the image. I tend to think if I put my image on Dreamstime and a person buys it and then Dreamstime asks for a refund (for example the buyer's cheque bounces) then too bad because my image is now out there with no protection. I put the onus on Dreamstime to confirm credit worthiness before transferring my image. The only reason I'd give a refund is if the image I uploaded is faulty (i.e. dust spots for example) and the editors missed that. Otherwise, standard trade practices law applies - you cannot have a refund because you changed your mind as a buyer. But well done on the sale, that is excellent :-)

i really hope that buyer will not decide to get a refund, i would suggest you to wait a month or more before cash out the money, to make sure the image will not be returned, as they have that right :/
