Today was a milestone for me—10,000 sales. So, I feel like celebrating and sharing my news. In the early years, I never thought it possible to reach such a milestone. It was my impossible dream.Living a dream is not easy.It takes hard work and perseveranceAnd the nature of the business has changed. But I am still thrilled that every day someone wants to purchase one of my photos. It is exciting to see my images on book covers, in popular travel books, and on important websites.... continue reading

Surfs up, and I’m riding the wave. What an unbelievable month.I had a magazine cover, a book cover, reached a milestone of 6000 sales, plus ended last week with a bang, enjoying the fruits of the Google ad relationship with lots of sales.I am sitting here wondering how quickly the wave will crash at the shoreline. The magazine cover was expected.I had approached the editor of the magazine at the request of my model’s mother.Check out the link to the cover:magazine cover .... continue reading
I recently broke my wrist and had a cast above my elbow.I couldn't drive, couldn't open a jar, and could hardly lift, hold and use my camera. So imagine my dismay when the mother of the models I work with ask me to take some photos. She wanted to try for a magazine cover shot for her kids who often model for me.I had to say "yes" since she makes her kids available to me when I want to take some stock images. But how?I could barely hold my camera steady.I couldn't manage setting up and... continue reading
I just realized I had my 4th anniversary with Dreamstime this week.I am stunned it has been four years.I remember wondering how I would ever have enough images to be exclusive, and now I am working towards 1000.I wish I had great words of wisdom to share, but have nothing new to say that hasn't been said before. For me, consistency has always been my motto. Consistently taking images and uploading.Consistently taking on-line classes and reading books, and learning new things.Consistently... continue reading
Yesterday was a big day.I hit 1,000 sales.Interestingly, what made the difference in reaching this milestone more quickly is that over the past months I have re-looked at, and uploaded, several images I “passed” the first time around.Previously, I either did not appreciate the stock value of an image, or my Photoshop skills were such that I was unable to process the image the way I wanted.I have inserted some of these images into this blog—all have sold:)I mention this as a reminder... continue reading
You don’t necessarily have to “break the bank” to buy good photographic equipment.I bought my camera used (on-line), and did very well in my pricing. I shoot a Nikon D300.I bought my favorite Nikkor lenses“new” 10-16 years ago.(I have been a Nikon shooter for a long time.)The technical quality of the images produced from these old lenses is consistently excellent. It is usually "user error" when I am dissatisfied. Thus my recommendation for those of you who cannot afford to... continue reading
I started uploading to Dreamstime about a year ago. Like many of you, I have a day job that doesn’t involve using a camera. Thus, I set my goals easy…15-20 uploads a month, with no expectations of sudden wealth. So far I think I am doing okay.My mother says I am, and I have learned through the years that she is never wrong. It has been an “interesting” year, and I have seen many changes in my life.I thought I would share a few of these changes , and what I have learned from them,... continue reading
