Tip how to do film-like video footage in daylight

Hi. Another tips from your beloved king :)As you know, recording at 24 fps will give a film-like look at recordings. Combine this with a shallow DOF and you have a piece of art, ready for sale.Today tip is not about filming at 24 fps (only available on selected cameras), but about how to achieve a shutter speed of about 1/45. This because you want the denominator of your shutter speed to be approximately double the number of frames per second that you are recording. In other words, if you are... continue reading

Hi. Do you want to start selling video footage and don't know what camera to buy? Forget about prices, check this first! Take a SD Card with you and ask seller to let you shoot a small video. Come home and check video codec (use VLC for this, Tools - Codec information). You will see something like Planar 4:2:0 YUV or Planar 4:2:2 YUV.What this means?Short explanation: 4:2:2 is better than 4:2:0. This is a very good news for video... sorry! photographers... :) WHY?!As Israel 'Izzy' Hyman said in an article, "Over the past couple years, I have noticed that there is a group of people who are getting into video in a big way right now. Who are they? Photographers! It only makes sense for a few reasons:- Photographers are interested in capturing imagery.- Their gear frequently has video capabilities too (such as the Canon 5D Mark II).- They might have clients asking for... continue reading

A case for exclusivity

I read this on a stock photography forum and I think is good to share. So:"I read a quote in the book "The 4-Hour Work Week" that I think summarizes our situation quite well...talking about why not to sell product through many distributors.."It works like this: Reseller A sells the product for your recommended advertised price of $50, then reseller B sells it for $45 to compete with A, and then C sells it for $40 to compete with A and B .In no time at all, no one is making profit from... continue reading

The power of social media - referred members

I want to share something from my statistics: "41 users were referred by you. 6 photographers were referred by you. 1 buyers were referred by you. 1 payment plans were purchased."This was done in the last year by using Google+, Google blog, Twitter and Facebook. This kind of promotion takes me about 1-2 hour/day. The result in terms of $ earnings is low, but maybe some day a big photographer or a big buyer will be referred by me. Wish me luck, I wish you too. King out and over. Have a nice day,... continue reading
