There is never a dull moment with Monty...I was the first to raise my hand when it was asked who wanted to be a martyr on behalf of Monty's hygiene...I make my first mistake of putting a regular leash on him..passing by his harness many times..get him in the car..drop the kids at school..finally on the way to the vet ..which of whom has chosen (without first looking at his behavior chart) to keep Monty the entire day to give him a bath.. all is well in the van ride there..then...we pull up.. Avery,... continue reading

When Monty, the Dane and Nikko....the ..umm...well, when they first got together Monty really did not know what to think of her...He almost looked at her like a little rat..She had no fear of him as she would constantly try to bite on his lips..his tail..his nose..he always tried to stay a safe distance from her ( even tho now they are the best of friends) ..but he always had at least one eye on her...which sometimes made for comical pictures.. continue reading
When Monty was 5 months old, we decided to get him a little friend...We went to SICSA with every intention to walk out with a lab or labordoodle....to be honest, I wanted to walk out with every dog in there but I had to be realistic...we looked and we looked..then finally we looked down..there she was..our little Nikko ( named after the head flying Monkey in the Wizard of Oz) she was nothing that we had "intented" to get..but everything we ever wanted...The introduction to Monty, our Great Dane,... continue reading
You are gonna notice that I blog a lot about Monty, our Great Dane..because...well....he is the only family member that we have that can eat food, off the center of our dining room table whilst standing 3 rooms away...There are many things that are funny about this 10 month old Dane...many you will be able to read about on here..but one in particular is his security blanket...when he is feeling needy, he will grab up his leopard print bankie...we will know that he is cold or just needs comfort and... continue reading
I was asked, once, "how do you get your dog to sit so nicely for a picture?" It is really quite simple...I go into the house and walk over to the silverware drawer..I pull out a tablespoon size spoon...I walk over to the cabinet, where the new, unopened jar ofpeanut butter is stored..I pull out said butter..I call the dog to desired location...tell him, " Now Monty, sit very pretty and I will give you a treat.."..he sits pretty..I take the shot....I take out a large spoon of gooey peanut... continue reading
We all know fads can pop up anywhere or anytime...from the Atkin's diet to Tickle Me Elmo's to Pokemon Cards...nothing is exempt from them, including our furry little friends..Labradoodles, for example, are a cross between the Labrador Retriever and the Standard Poodle. This cross breed was 1st bred in 1989 in Australia by breeder Wally Conron. Within the last few years, Labradoodles have become extremely popular because they are almost like a super dog with intelligence, delicate frame, andlow... continue reading
I want to get more pictures of my male tomcat Scratter, but since he IS a cat, he has no eyebrows..thus..showing no emotion..Emotionless cats make for boring pictures...so I came up with a plan..a Cat Photo trick...I simply just find the cat...because we all know there is no way that cat is gonna come to me..I set up my camera .. I sit down on the floor, directly in front of him...then I call the puppy over and sit her on my lap....Cats can't hide anger...their eyes give it away every time.... continue reading
Monty, our 9 month old Dane really stands out in a crowd. I tend to take him to the dog park, which is quite a ride from our home...and when I say "quite a ride" I mean not only is the park two towns down the interstate from where we live, but the ride itself is...well...imagine packing 6 kids...3 car seats..one camera bag, with a magnitude of lenses, ...and a 300 pound elephant into a mini van that seats 5....and then, just for fun, let's also put in ahalf eaten peanut butter cracker.... continue reading
