For me photography is about capturing memories;maybe family occasions, special places, stunning colours, shapes, dew drops on leaves, sunsets, sunrises, old buildings or just the unusual. Every photograph or image is a memory of some sort; whether it captures a special moment in time, a pattern or shape or stunning colour, even a feeling. My preferences are animals and nature but I always prefer a natural look whatever the image. I do dabble with editing sometimes, but a forced or mega... continue reading
My 200th image approved. Another milestone achievement, I now have 200 approved images online. When I first started with DT I never thought any of my images would be good enough to be approved and put online. With each approval your confidence builds and you get better at seeing which images will get sales. You don't have to have loads of views to get a sale. You don't need a large portfolio to get sales either. My sales are still quite small but the fact that people have bought my images means... continue reading
My new model at 10 weeks old, a cute fluffy buddle of fun. Now he is 15 months old, still cute (well I think so) much bigger and still a lot of fun. Had hoped to get several images of him online but so difficult to capture him as he is always moving plus not all of my images are suitable stock photos and there are just so many already out there. He loves chasing bubbles and was pleased to capture this one and it be accepted too. Will have to follow him around with my camera in hand more. Helpful... continue reading
As my 2 years with Dreamstime approaches I have learned quite a lot, especially from members blogs. I have enjoyed seeing my photographs accepted and have been even more excited with my sales. I doubt I will get rich here but that is not important.I have recently been dabbling in illustrations, I have a lot to learn here; however it's even more exciting to get an illustration accepted as the whole concept is mine from start to finish. Where as a lovely landscape just needs to be captured, I haven'... continue reading
This week sees my 1 year Anniversary with Dreamstime. I also have a new model to photograph. I have to be quick to catch up with him as he's growing so fast! So here starts a new chapter in my family's life as we share it with our puppy. Lots of photographing to come, hopefully some of it will be good enough to add to DT :) continue reading
As an animal lover, novice horse rider and a “trying to improve photographer”, I visited a local Heavy Horse show with my camera at the ready. There were plenty of horses listed for the many events; Shires, Suffolk, Clydesdale and some breeds I had not heard of; Jutland, Comtois, Percheron and Ardennes. These horses really are gentle giants and very graceful too in the arena despite their size. They may have been used for pulling barges, working the land, pulling carriages or logs but as the... continue reading
I am celebrating, 100 images online! Thought I'd never get there. Thanks DT. I've learnt a lot but I've still got loads more to learn. The important thing is I enjoy it! I doubt I'll ever be a great stock photographer as staging is not for me, although I do look at photography in a different way now. It's a warm and sunny spring day perfect for photography so I'm off.Happy Easter everyone! :) continue reading
