Keywords are so important!

We all know how time consuming keywording can be, but it really is a vital stage of uploading that should be given just as much thought as the taking of and the processing of the image.Yesterday, I had a spare hour and so thought I would look at some of my images to see if I could improve the keywords.I removed some and also added quite a few new ones.I also had a go at using Yuri Arcurs really useful keywording tool to see if this would make any difference to the words that I was coming up... continue reading

Assignment acceptance

Yay at last I have had an image approved for the assignment!I'm so pleased and nearly as happy as my niece on the inflatable slide! Thanks Dreamstime and good luck to everyone else for the assignment. continue reading

200 Sales!

Whilst I haven't quite kept up with my somewhat over ambitious goal of 100-150 uploads a month I am pleased to say that my sales seem to be quite steady.I have just reached 200 sales in around 10 months.Although my limited experience tells me that if I had reached my upload goal I would perhaps be celebrating a few more sales! Finally I get a couple of days off next month so I can spend some time shooting and uploading...I need to save up for a camera upgrade! Thanks to everyone that... continue reading

Black and White?

I really enjoy shooting in black and white, however, I am not quite sure how well monotone images sell as stock.I have uploaded a few black and white images in the few months that I have been here and some seem to sell ok (not a great deal but a few sales).I am always reluctant to upload more though as I am not sure if designers need these kind of images.Surely they could convert any of the coloured images they buy into black and white if they needed to?I would be interested in hearing... continue reading

Yay 1st P-EL Sale!!

Really pleased this morning to see a jump in my sales - I thought it was a mistake but then saw that I had my very first P-EL sale!!I wouldn't call it one of my best shots but it just shows that it is worth acting the tourist for the day and photographing places of interest in your local area.Yay!! Thanks to the buyer and dreamstime! continue reading

Go Local!

These little trips at the weekend are very cost effective too as most of my sales on Dreamstime have come from tourist locations such as Norfolk, Suffolk or Kent and it costs me very little to get to them.Yesterday I sold 5 images of Norfolk in a couple of hours - maybe someone is making a brochure of the area. continue reading

100 sales!

I'm having a good day so far...just reached 100 sales which I am really pleased about.I'm still quite new on Dreamstime and I am trying very hard to improve, I just need to make more time.I am well under my target of 100 uploads a month but I will keep aiming for it.Also, i'm really liking the new pricing structure.Although I've only had a couple of sales with the 2008 credits I can certainly see the difference.Last month I reached my first payout (it took about 5 months) but already I... continue reading

1st Payout Reached!!

Really pleased today because I have reached my first payout!I have been here on DT since January 21st 2008 and so have reached this in just over 5 months.I just need to work harder now to increase my uploads with the hope of reaching higher downloads.I am trying to fight the urge to take the earnings now as what I really want to do is leave it in there until I have enough for a new wide angle lens from Olympus...could take me quite a while though!!Still at least I will feel as if I am working... continue reading

First attempt with light tent...

Hi there,Well I've had a couple of images accepted from my first attempt with a light tent so I am quite pleased.I mostly take shots of landscapes and nature but I thought I would give something new a try.I bought a very cheap light tent and lights so I wasn't sure that my set up would be good enough but the end results weren't too bad.I found it quite difficult to get the correct white balance and I think this would be improved if I invest in some proper light bulbs...the ones I was using... continue reading

Another milestone!

I spent last weekend with my parents in the English countryside and so finally managed to add another model to my portfolio...it's much easier to get a release signed by a family member if you suggest that one day you could make some money from stock and buy them something nice!!All I need now are some more downloads....well quite a few more actually!Luckily the weather was nice, which makes a change, so we had a quick drive to the coast to take the dog for a walk - he also made quite a good... continue reading
