What happened to my sales ?

At the end of October I look back at the current month and wonder "where did my sales go"?This has been the lowest sales month for me in nearly 2 years, certainly for 2012.Now I don't sell $100s of images every month, but I have had a steady increase month on month and quarter by quarter.I can see views increasing, but the sales aren't coming through.Anybody have the same experience? Is it possibly subject matter related? continue reading

Another (P-EL) sale woohoo!

I am pleased to say that I have made a second (P-EL) sale in as many months. This image is of an adult Malachite Kingfisher giving its youngster maybe its last meal before kicking it out.Now I only wish to know what it would be used for.Maybe I will find it printed somewhere.Thank you DT. continue reading

New images of Southern African wilidlife

I have recently returned from an unbelievable trip into Southern Africa, bringing back many images of the wildlife encountered there. All my images have been approved and are now online. Please have a look if you have a moment. continue reading

Double milestones

I have recently reached 2 milestones.Firstly I uploaded a small batch of nature images which took my online images to 700.And secondly I had my first level 4 image. So far it has been slow going in terms of downloads this month, but I am hoping it will pick up again in the months to come.Thank you for looking at my portfolio and persist in your uploads and in time the rewards will come. continue reading

Woohoo! $1000 mark!

Today marks the day I topped $1000.What makes it even more special is that it is with the same image as my first ever sale.It took a while to reach this milestone as I joined in September 2009 and sold 578 images, but it was with predominantly mammal and bird images.Big smile!! continue reading

You don't know what you have!

Sometimes you take a shot, you kind of like the image and then it starts to get a few accolades. This image was one of 10 I entered last year in the World Photographed of the year competition. It was entered into the urban wildlife section and went on to make it to the 3rd round of judging. It was really astonishing to me as I thought the other 9 images were better. This image has also now won me a competition in a South African travel and outdoor magazine to be published in February.Maybe its... continue reading

1000 Views!

I had another milestone with DT yesterday with my first image having 1000 views. This is an image of some pink South African Fynbos flowers which I took as a grab shot while doing bird photography in the mountain. You never know what people will like :-). As I am mostly a wildlife and bird photographer this is a real surprise. The next two images are about 500 views behind.Thank you for looking at my gallery. continue reading

Too much blood?

Hi.I would appreciate your opinion on some of my lion images which are quite graphic in terms of blood on their faces. These are wild lions who have just caught a Wildebeest and are in the process of feeding. Is this too much?Do you have any experience with this. continue reading

Ratings take a tumble

I am very disappointed in myself for the huge slump in my approvals this month even after putting them though Noise Ninja.Nevertheless the next batch was approved today.Amongst them some of my favorites of the trip.A lioness feeding on a Wildebeest.A lioness in the tall grass in the early morning light.A Lannner Falcon in flightAnd a few more, but you will need to pop into my portfolio if you have a moment :-) continue reading

YES!!!...500th upload :-)

Yesterday marked my 500th upload on DT.It has been an 18 month process of developing my photography skills and enjoying what the South African wildlife and birdlife has to offer. On the bird front, I probably only have half of the 600+ species this wonderful country has to offer. But I will persist :-)I am still getting loads of images turned down due to "excessive noise artifacts" even if I can't see them :-).I then run them through Noise Ninja, something I should be doing up front the first... continue reading
