Colour shift in images after noise reduction in Noiseware

I experienced a colour shift/saturation drop in my photographs when I processed them using the noise reduction software, Noiseware. The original images looked fine after converting to JPEG from the RAW files, but there is a significant change in colour/saturation when opening the JPEG/TIFF files in Noiseware. I realised this only after upgrading the Nikon ViewNX software to the newest version of ViewNX 2.Read on to find out how I managed to resolve the issue :) continue reading

If we leave out certain equipment, we think that there is a possibility that it maybe needed somewhere during the trip.... continue reading

My thoughts on the amazing Nikon D7000

The new Nikon D7000 sounds really amazing. From the specs alone, it seems that it surpasses that of the popular D90 and most of them even surpasses the DX flagship, the D300s. What I was most surprised at is none other than the wide ISO range which belittles many other cameras of the same level. Speaking from my conclusion, the D7000 is around 1-2 stops better than both the D90 and the D300s in terms of noise control performance. How does it fare comparing to the D700 and D3 models?Read on for... continue reading

Recent trip to Alaska and the Rockies

I have been away for the past month for a trip to The Last Frontier – Alaska, and the Rockies. This was the furthest that I have travelled and it was a very fulfilling trip. I strongly recommend Alaska for anyone interested in the “real” wilderness as well as wildlife. Visit the Rockies too for turquoise lakes and majestic vistas, not to say wildlife as well. Both destinations yielded many wonderful photo opportunities and I was lucky enough to capture some of them on digital. Some of the... continue reading

One of my favorite images upgraded!

Today I have another image that was upgraded to Level 2! Compared to the previous image that was also upgraded, this is actually one of my favorite images. It was taken during one of my backpack travels in Japan while I was there for a year. For this image, I passed by Tokyo from Osaka while on my way to a remote prefecture called Iwate. That day I stopped by Tokyo and decided to catch the sunset from a tall skyscraper that provided a breathtaking view of Tokyo city.I had the opportunity... continue reading

Finally, the 1000 images milestone

Finally, after a long journey, I managed to reach 1000 submitted images on most of my online portfolios including Dreamstime and a few other microstock sites that I regularly submit to. It has been quite a journey ever since I joined microstock. Microstock has also provided me with many opportunities to learn from my mistakes and to improve on various aspects of my photography, as you will be able to see the response of the market from your downloaded, or “undownloaded” images. The next milestone... continue reading
