Though there may be many things to say about the way this teacher delivers his message.. the fact remains.. he delivers a powerful message of artistic creation.BLOG called: The S_it my Photog prof says continue reading

The Smiths were unable to conceive children and decided to use a surrogate father to start their family. On the day the proxy father was to arrive, Mr. Smith kissed his wife goodbye and said, 'Well, I'm off now. The man should be here soon.'Half an hour later, just by chance, a door-to-door baby photographer happened to ring the doorbell, hoping to make a sale. 'Good morning, Ma'am', he said, 'I've come to...''Oh, no need to explain,' Mrs. Smith cut in, embarrassed, 'I've been expecting... continue reading

The Miz's tutorials

A while ago we had a contributor The Miz.He was very helpful to many of us by providing "cheerful" criticism with a tad of a bite.He also took the time to create many tutorials to address an assortment of processes one would do within Photoshop.Arenacreative has hosted these tutorials here:The MIZ TutorialsTake a look and maybe there was something you missed or forgot about! continue reading

Happy birthday to me!

Today is my birthday!Who would have thought... 55!Holy smokes! When I think about how quickly time has passed with my life (more behind me than in front) I am just blown away.Being one of the fortunate ones with many, many wonderful memories of being a child, a young adult, a older young adult and now a middle aged young adult... I have so many things to be thankful of.But life isn't about the past it is about the NOW.As you get older you begin to truly understand the meaning... continue reading

Photoshop keyboard shortcuts...

Do I love these shortcut keys in Photoshop (CS4)...Yes I do!There are a couple of keyboard shortcuts I have been recently introduced to.Better late than never! To undo an effect I used to use the Ctrl Z key combination and get that one undo. Now I useCtrl-Shift-Z (PC) or Cmd-Option-Z (MAC) for multiple undos! Just keep clicking and you now have multiple undos. You don't have to go into your history palette! My second favorite key combo is to flatten all the layers in your image to... continue reading

Dreamstime Lightboxes

A lightbox is a box with a light source and a translucent cover used to view transparenices such as slides, ex-rays, negatives etc. Here at DT lightboxes are a place to group images for view at a later date, add notes, share with others and in general they are like a shopping basket. You can also use lightboxes as a tool if you are a contributor.I use them to group images (all mine)together that are similar in category or subject matter. You can add notes to each image or actually... continue reading

Homage to MIZ

One year ago today, a fellow stock contributor passed on.He was an inspiration to me and great help to me in my pursuit of imagery. His manner may have been gruff at times but he was ALWAYS helpful and full of excellent advice. His advice stung often but were always filled with truth and most importantly a solution! He had a .. certain presence on the message boards... mostly humor always on the edge of inciting a riot!MIZ.. if you are listening.. MISS YA! continue reading

I am in love with a texture.

My new interests as a contributor here on DT is in the creation of things that whirl around in my head.I find myself collecting things and textures. The one I am finding the most use for (at the moment) is this cracked asphalt driveway of a home in my neighborhood. It is so compelling to look at and has so many uses. When I begin a new 'canvas' I spend much time developing the idea that it becomes my goal to have more than one finished product.Much like contributors on a shoot where they... continue reading

What is YOUR day job?

There was a recent thread about how many contributors are connected to DT.The result can be found hereCommunity Stats and wow what an eye opener. Not only are there a lot of contributors but at this writing, 5:15 a.m. Eastern standard time, there are over 5000 folks on line.Me included! That certainly says a lot for Dreamstime and its global appeal.I do not want to think everyone is up so early on the same side of the planet. With over 45,000 contributors I began to think… what... continue reading

How much is gas in your country?

Here in the US we are getting slammed with the highest prices for gasoline that we have ever seen.Worse yet, these prices affect absolutely everything.Food, water, clothing you name it, if it needs to travel to get to where you are… the price is going up.We won’t talk about turning food into fuel… Whose idea was that?It sure sounded good but if you were a farmer would you grow food for people or fuel? The answer lies in how much money you will make from the crop. Are we going from... continue reading
