Successful Defense of Copyright Violation

I did a Google Image search early this past week of my ten best selling images and found several instances of them being used illegally. They were on Facebook, Blogspot and two private web sites. In the case of the private web sites, I sent a polite email notifying the owner of his/her violation asking for my image to be removed. In both cases, my photos were removed. One of the site owners sent an apology and a sequence of emails letting me know how sorry he was.For Google's Blogspot... continue reading

FB Repeating Uploads

I may have been the last to get the memo about Facebook repeating recently uploaded sales.Last week, I noticed what I thought was another FB quirk. I told Admin that if I had 1 new sale, the other 3 slots were filled in with most recent sales; if I had 2 new sales, the other 2 slots were filled in with recent sales; and, if I had 3 new sales, the other 1 slot was filled in the the most recent sale. Example on my Facebook pageSo my surprise and delight, Admin replied that things were working... continue reading

Here is what I did.I followed Bret's instructions for limiting the database return to Lostarts images. Then I selected the radio button "Match Any Word" and entered both 'philippine' and 'philippines'. The result was 54 images. Then "Match All Words" resulting in only 15... continue reading

IPTC and EXIF and What's It All About?

After reading a forum post by Photogwest asking for ways to streamline the process of re-keywording the same images over and over again, I decided to do a little research and expand upon previous forum posts with further information about EXIF and IPTC.My limited blog gives definitions, simple descriptions, how to access EXIF and IPTC features in a few editing programs and a link to theprocess of adding, clearing and fixing IPTC info in Adobe products (a bit technical but understandable).... continue reading

Keywords and Sideways Thinking ... I Think.

Methodology is Good!Keywording can be described as a methodology or a process. I'll use the word process for this article. A good keyword process yields successful and predictable outcomes while maintaining relevancy and eliminating frustration. The better the process; the better the outcome. The purpose of my article is to help guide your choices of which words should be chosen as keywords by showing you a process that has been working for me for many years. It's logical, intuitive and repeatable... continue reading
