What a Little Bat Taught Me.....

Years ago I had the great opportunity to study local bat populations. At first thought, you might think "Oh, those horrible, evil, devilish creatures that creep out of the shadows of the night to suck our blood.... I shudder to even think of seeing one."Pre-conceived notions and generations of folklore, myths, books and movies have left a lot of people feeling afraid - preferring to even avoid the thought of them.Putting my own pre-conceived notions aside, I jumped into their world and even... continue reading

Death of A Pen

When your favorite pen dies, it is indeed a sad day. First you get a hint with inconsistent ink distribution. With a 'scribble check' you then realize it is indeed wearing thin as the trail turns into just a sad indent on the paper. The final check is to open the pen and check the ink thingy. It is at that moment fears turn into reality. The other day, my black gel pen scribbled it's last. ButterSimmer the above "sauce" on the stovetop for 10 minutes. You'll be pouring this over the batter,... continue reading

Design Through Discovery

With all the fuss about digital camera tricks, photoshop tutorials, and the latest gadgets, it's easy to get caught up in a lot of technical details, piggyback on 'how to' concepts and lose sight of your most valuable tool of all - creativity.$1000's worth of tools and gadgets don't equate to posessing creativity in design - technology is merely a vehicle for creativity and so if nobody is behind the wheel, you aren't going very far.'Design Through Discovery' by Marjorie Elliott Bevlin is... continue reading

Buyers - Getting Deals on Dreamstime

You've found the perfect image and want to purchase full ownership, but the price is a little more than your budget can afford. What to do? Ask for a deal.A lot of buyers might not realize that the creator of the image does have control over the price of SR-EL licenses. The SR-EL License allows you to purchase full ownership of a particular image, meaning you have exclusive rights to use that image. As a creator, I can choose to have that price automatically applied to all my images, or... continue reading
