1000 milestone

I have recently achieved the 1000 image milestone on Dreamstime, which seemed a long way away when I started actively uploading files to Dreamstime just over a year ago and the first month my acceptance percentage was under 60%. I took note of the comments on refusals, read more blogs which can be very helpful and now have an acceptance percentage over 90% which is pleasing.I have taken the majority of my images with the Sony A6000 ILCE and most often with the 16-50mm lens. I have found this... continue reading

Learning every day

I have just passed the 800 images online milestone! I have enjoyed taking photo's over the last 11 months I've actively been uploading to Dreamstime and trying to improve my abilities whilst trying to add some inventiveness to some images. If you look through other site members portfolio's there are some fantastic photographs and also great inventiveness with illustrations etc.Taking photographs is enjoyable, disappointing when an image is technically not great but worth the time when an image... continue reading

Don't miss those shots

Since starting to load images onto Dreamstime last year I have learned a lot from knowing almost nothing about taking a good photo.Taking pictures in RAW, don't over edit (easy to do), always check images enlarged 100%, get used to using manual settings(trying this with mixed results) and as Penpossessed said in the blog last week..always take your camera!! I walked out of the house very early morning for work this week and as a second thought went back and got my camera..I would have missed... continue reading

Summer

As we have just gone into summer I wondered what you think of when you think of summer. As for myself I think of the corn turning gold in the fields and the fruit ripening on the bushes. In this part of the world we also have the samphire season which is a salty edible marsh plant. What makes you think of summer ?       continue reading

Keywords

I recently used keywords for the first time and it was enlightening for the novice I am and needless to say I have several images that could have been categorized better in the past!! I would recommend anyone like myself to give it a go just to see the difference. I have often struggled with which categories are best so it's very helpful. As I have recently passed the 700 uploads mark i will add a recent image.  continue reading

Spooky!

I uploaded this image in November and was just reviewing it when I noticed...a man or a skeleton man or ghost on the right hand side. Although the colours have been changed the pattern is the same as the original..very spooky!!! Just shows you have an image for a while and they still throw something new out! Unless I'm the only one who can see it and then I'm going to feel very silly!! continue reading

Milestone 600 images

I have just had my 600th image accepted onto Dreamstime. I'm not sure if I'm making good progress but I am making some progress.I have just read Thorkens blog 10,000 images online(pretty amazing), congratulations to him and it makes me want to strive to get more and better images. I'm a little way behind but have only been actively loading images since last September.I try to have my camera with me as often as possible, just never know when a photo opportunity will arise. I went out 3 nights... continue reading

Surprise in the image

I took the following image of a humble bumble bee collecting pollen from a dandelion. When I put it on the computer and enlarged it when I got home I was pleased with the result...pretty good image of the bee covered in pollen. The surprise was the dandelions...I must have looked at thousands if not millions of dandelions in my life and I had never noticed the stamens. Maybe I need to be more observant!   continue reading

Rubbish Pollution

I went down to one of my coastal haunts after a few days away and wondered what the strange looking heap in the car park was as I approached. This is what I saw as I got closer This was the rubbish picked up in one afternoon on a small section of foreshore. Now this is an area with few visitors, so it hasn't been discarded by reckless visitors. The majority of this rubbish has been discarded by boats/ships and then washed up on the tide. I've seen a seagull with the plastic four pack beer holder... continue reading
