Product review

I recently picked up a light tent for small product photography andwanted to share my initial tests. The one I purchased was theDynaphos DPL-005L 24x24 LightCube. It packs really small and comes with 4 different backdrops (Black, White, Red and Blue). Please note that you cannot use these backdrops once you unpack it.The backdrops have so many creases in them which makes them impossible to use as-is.I had to use my steamer to iron out the very stubborn folds. This isthe only... continue reading

Canon 5D Mark 3 - First Impressions

First of all, I need to stress that this is my no means a technical review of the Canon 5D Mark 3. I will leave that to the experts. I cannot compare this to other brands such as Canon's main competition Nikon because I have never used one. I will however compare this to my 7D. I have also had the opportunity over the last few years to work with the 5D Mark 2.When I'm not in the studio, I shoot weddings and events which are notorious for ever changing lighting conditions. In need of a camera that... continue reading

Estonian Photography

I just returned from a month long trip to Estonia. This is a countrywhere you can stay for months and shoot stock images, lots of castles, museums, nature and interesting places. I took many, many images. One of the most amazing places there for photography was PatareiPrison. In the next couple of weeks I will try to add images fromEstonia to Dreamstime. One month is a very long time to be away from home. Add to that, the fact that the Estonian language is some still something... continue reading

Keywords on old images

Having been here for over one year now, I have found that experience does make a difference.Over time, you get better at "keywording" your images.I have gone over my early images and found many that could use a "spruce up".You will find that if you go over your early entries, that you will be able to find some new keywords to add.Don't forget your early entries. They've been good to you.Be good to them.I hope this helps you as much as it has helped me.Cheers,... continue reading

Friends and family as models

Everyone has them.Friends and family who have no fear when someone points a camera at them.I know some photographers who pay models for their stock photography. Now in my case, I don't have money growing under my pillows, but I do know people who have a natural talent when someone points a camera to them. These people just love to have their photo taken.I'm taking advantage of the fact that I havefamily and friends who are willing to have beautiful images taken of them.... continue reading

not as smooth as we hoped :)

First of all thank you so much for the nice comments, it means a lot to us.Got our first rejections this week (not 1 but 7...ouch), didn’t feel that good, but taught us a lesson, that we have to do a better job.So, that’s what we are going to do…to submit pictures that will be approved. This past week we have shot a lot of pictures, also brought in a new model, a male model. That was such a fun night for all of us! Not that we are only working but we just have fun with it! We think... continue reading
