I'm very happy that finally reached 1000 sales, after a bit more than 2 years exclusive on Dreamstime, thanks to a nice extra large kangaroo fight credit sale! Nice milestone to remember :-)I wish I had more time to take photos and upload, but ultimately I think it's better to focus on quality rather than quantity. Well, some people seem to achieve both quantity and quality but I don't so I try to keep a critical eye on my photos and only submit the best ones, even if it hurts sometimes not to... continue reading

Demonike recently published a very interesting blog about unexpected copyrights. One of the "objects" mentioned was Uluru aka Ayer's Rock in Australia. Having been there at the beginning of the year, I'd like to share my experience.Uluru stands in a National Park in the red centre of Australia, and in fact the whole National Park is protected by copyrights. That also includes Kata Tjuta aka The Olgas. All commercial film crews, still photographers, artists and sound recordists need to... continue reading
Willowbank Raceway is a drag racing facility near Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. During the Queen's Birthday holiday weekend each June, it is the home of the Castrol EDGE Winternationals, the largest drag race held outside of the United States.Five major events are held annually, with a variety of features including Top Fuel dragsters, the nitromethane-burning kings of the sport.Other categories to be seen (and heard!) at Willowbank include the supercharged sedans of Top Doorslammer, carburettored... continue reading
Today after 8 months at DT I reach 100 sales with this picture! March and April were just awesome months and I hope to get many more like these. One level 3 image, 2 level 2 and 2 more photos standing at 4 sales; 48 different pictures sold, closing on 200 uploads. My current average RPD is 1.31$ and my best revenue $9 (oh boy, was I happy when I got that one!). I was lucky enough to find one of my level 2 pictures online too and to get one Editor's choice.I've learnt a lot over the last months... continue reading
Ever been caught by the Monthly Assignment Fever? Being left ecstatic because your image was selected, or depressed because it was rejected?Assignments are a rather difficult exercise, with an approval rate of generally less than 15% - sometimes as low as 11%. For the newbies who are already struggling to keep a decent AR and are not too comfortable with image processing, this can be really intimidating. And yet, assignments are fun and, more importantly, very educational.First of all, one... continue reading
Although DT's interface is incredibly user friendly and the blogs and message boards are full of information, some things are not always obvious to the newbies. Here are some of the things I've picked along the way and wish I'd known before. They work for me, but you might get a different experience of course:The keyword "girl" is broadly used and often depicts pretty sexy girls. When uploading a little girl's picture, I discovered that using the word "child" rather than girl in the title will... continue reading
Following a thread by Dan1, I had an interesting discussion with Mani33 on the correlation between N/A sales and collections. Here are some statistics that may interest you. About 33% of my sales show as N/A sales. This means that the buyer did not access my image through a specific keyword but found it through another way. This could be by browsing through a collection or directly looking at my portfolio; accessing my photo previously saved in his/her light box; seeing my photo on a promotion... continue reading
Very pleased about my new milestone, the famous 1st $100 payout! The last 6 months on DT have been a lot of fun, I've learnt a lot of things and I've got much more to learn. I hope to continue growing my portfolio regularly and achieve more before too long! Thanks to all the buyers who selected my photos and to DT for taking the time to teach in such a competitive environment! continue reading
