Repetitive Motion Injury

The age of digital photography has given me a problem that would not have occurred back in the film and darkroom era – namely, repetitive motion injury from processing images on the computer in Photoshop.Hence, my upload of work over the next while will be very small as I am to avoid computer use.My computer set-up is ergonomically correct, yet it still happened.Voice activated Photoshop hasn’t arrived yet, so I am not sure how to proceed if I still wish to process my images.I am sure... continue reading

Reflecting on a Year with Dreamstime

Although I joined Dreamstime in the summer of 2011, it wasn’t until the fall that I became exclusive and started to give it some serious effort.Looking back on my first year with Dreamstime I feel content.I have over 550 images on line with over 200 sales ranging from small RF to Tiff.I don’t know if this is good, bad, or average but I feel I am on the right tracks heading towards the future.Looking forward to my second year, Dreamstime is a very fine place. continue reading

Something to Think About

A few days ago I did a search for some new approved images of mine to see if they were in the system yet. They all came up but one.I contacted the good folks at Dreamstime to inquire and was told it had been content filtered (I have my filter on).The image was a 70 year old photograph of a man and woman (my grandfather and my mom) on their farm holding shotguns and some pheasants they had just hunted. They said all images showing dead animals were content filtered.Maybe this could be disturbing... continue reading

Exclusive Rights

GreetingsAlthough my regular sales seem okay for a newbie ( 5 over the last week), it appears the real bucks are in someone buying the exclusive rights to an image.Does this happen very often or is it a rare occurrence.I would like to be able to upgrade my mode of transportation (on the left) to something a little more comfortable. continue reading

Acceptance Ratings

GreetingsI have read concern regarding acceptance ratings (which I also noted at other stock sites before I became exclusive with Dreamstime), especially amongst those starting out in stock photography. Please, don’t fret over this. There are many reasons for rejections, from technical aspects to how the evaluator is feeling that day.Just keep shooting, learning, improving, submitting, and developing confidence in your images. The rest will take care of itself. And all it takes is that one... continue reading

Looking For Advise

GreetingsI am looking for advise from some of you old timers on this site.I joined DT last July and have gone exclusive, with 72 images on line and 10 sales. For stock, is it better to specialize in a few areas of subject matter or spread yourself out.My non-stock photography has always been rather eclectic but when I look at my uploads on DT it reminds me of the proverbial “dogs breakfast”!And thank you for all the warm welcomes!CheersKenMy veggie friend here says "hello" continue reading

Greetings from a New Guy

Greetings to All!Stock photography is a new area for me as my background is mainly in gallery exhibits and print sales.I have finally gone exclusive with Dreamstime after tasting several other stock sites.I have a good feeling about DT.It is quite a change for my old brain cells to think in terms of "stock" instead of "artistic", but not to say you can't have artistic stock images.I am looking forward to my time here. And as it is the Christmas season, my musician friend here will play... continue reading
