Summer is drawing to a close and I've spent the last couple of weeks puttering around being lazy with the kiddos before school starts. Hence, the tutus :)I don't think I've ever spent $10 so wisely as I did when I bought everything to make them for the kids. And even though they've worn them everywhere, they've gotten their use out of them and they also made for some cute photos. So now that my oldest is back in school, that leaves me with my 2 year old at home. Gonna be really really quiet, but... continue reading

OH. MY. GOODNESS. It's so blessed hot in Illinois!!!Sooo..... Guess who's been slacking on their stock photography?? This girl. Unfortunately.Yeah... I could be doing indoor photos and spend time concentrating on being all creative and stuff but isn't this more fun than taking photos of still life??? continue reading
I'd like to introduce you all to the love of my life: Koda. :) I know we are encouraged to refrain from uploading photos of our pets, but she's just so darn cute and special. :)Koda is a Catahoula Leopard Dog. This is her at 12 weeks of age. I don't think I've ever owned a dog quite so smart and obedient. She does have the classic blue or "glass" eye that gives her a haunting look. If you've never owned a catahoula, you're truly missing out on a great breed of dog. I can't tell you how excited... continue reading
This is one of the things I love about summer, and I enjoy it in more ways than one:Natural photo opportunities are abundant everywhere you look.I don't know about anyone else, but with everything I do these days, in the back of my mind I'm thinking, "How could I turn this into a stock photograph?" Whether any of them sell or not, the memories behind them are priceless. It was the first time my oldest daughter got to pick blackberries (there are many outtakes of her wading into the bramble... continue reading
Ok, newbie, right here, question:I'm hoping to get some shots of fireworks (obviously) this weekend. I've taken photos of fireworks before and they were ok. These have to be superb as I want to try to upload to DT. I have a Nikon D5000. Where do I start, people? What's the key? Help! Please and Thank you! :) continue reading
The past two weeks have been so busy! Sheesh! Between running from photo shoot to photo shoot, taking care of my girls and all the insanity that follows, I feel like I'm running in circles! And just when I thought things couldn't get any more crazy we have adopted a Mallard duckling. Yes, I know. I must be insane or a glutton for punishment. Maybe both! Butters (my 5 year old named him/her) has been with us for 2 weeks after getting separated from his mom and siblings. It's been hard to not get attached... continue reading
So I had my first sale today! WOOOHOOOO! A whopping $1.10 and I couldn't be happier. I almost fell out of my chair, for one thing, it was a photo that had no views and I didn't expect it to ever sell, let alone have anyone even look at it. And for another, I had almost given up hope of ever selling anything. Sharing was turning out to be the best part of my experience here on DT and I was comfy with that. But lo and behold, there popped up that little tiny amount of hope in the form of $1.10. Hey,... continue reading
Last weekend I took on my first formal session with a fantastic couple who were recently married. And I have to say, I think after years of not knowing why I was put on this earth other than to be a mother, I think I might have figured it out: Photography. The day was perfect, the rain held off for us to get our outdoor session done and the results were more than what I had hoped they would be! I was so excited when I got to editing them and I was over the moon when the couple expressed how pleased... continue reading
So I just blogged about being able to timeline the whole robin hatching thing. And here's my forehead slapping moment: I forgot my camera today. Today, of all days. I had planned on getting a macro shot of the babies with their mouths open. Easy shot, yeah it's been done a lot but I wanted it more for my own personal use as opposed to posting it anywhere. I loaded up the kiddos. Grabbed my purse. Grabbed the diaper bag. Grabbed the stack of bills I had to drop in the mail. Did I grab my camera bag?... continue reading
So a while back I blogged about taking engagement pictures and my fear of it being a complete failure. Due to weather we've had to postpone several times and this weekend happens to be the perfect time! So Sunday I'm heading out and I've made a few preparations I wanted to share with you all. I don't know if any of you do any of this or just wing it but this is the game plan thus far, and if anyone has any suggestions or advice, feel free to speak up!1. I don't do posed photos so I've made a list... continue reading
