One view, one sale!

Hello everyone, just wanted to share a small but surprising (to me) record of mine...I uploaded an image that I thought it won't sell much and to my surprise, got a first sale with only one view! Not sure how often this happens to other DT photographers, it would be interesting to see how often and what kind of photos have had super fast sales. So please feel free to share your experience! Here is my photo... is not much, who would've thoughtright? :)      continue reading

For Nikon D800 users

Hello everybody, I just wanted to share an experience I had with DT that took me a while to figure out.I have been uploading RAW files taken with a Nikon D300 as additional format with every submission with no problems. It was after I started using a Nikon D800 with the "uncompressed RAW" setting when I could not upload files on this format anymore. After sending several inquiries to Costumer support and not getting a valid response or solution, it occur to me that maybe there's a "limit on... continue reading

All those Myths...

I love stock photography, my favorite hobby. When I have a chance in my busy life, I go over my photos and look for the "Dreamstime quality" ones that I can submit. Even though I have still a very small portfolio, I try to understand my statistics to find some kind of pattern and hope that my numbers will get better over time. There are so many Myths I read over the years about how uploading in a constant manner will give you more exposure and more sales, how your acceptance ratio influences your... continue reading

Ideal image size

Hello everybody, I'm sure this must have been discussed before in this Forum, but I could not find the answer I am looking for.I began processing my photos in a different way and as a final result, I end up with a bigger file (more resolution). After Dreamstime's resizing and acceptance, the files are around 20-27mp compared to 10-13mp size of my previous submissions. These are my latest and biggest images:And here is my question: is there an "ideal" image size for stock? will a... continue reading

Low A.R. forgiveness...(but only once!)

Hello there, having started a short while ago uploading, I had to go through the initial common mistakes newbies make. My A.R. at the beginning was very low (17.2 %).Now, less than three months later, I got the hang of it and improved a lot to close to 70%.Why not give newbies a chance? it is hard enough to struggle with small portfolios and getting the first few sales but also to have to raise the average of the A.R. to get the images well positioned on searches. This could take several discouraging... continue reading

Interrupted start with DT

Hello, just like to share my story so far with DT since I never came across anybody that started here the way I did.I've been interested in stock photography since around the mid '90s but could never get serious into it because of my busy life, kids, etc. When I made the jump to digital photography I registered with DT and submitted three images in Jan. 2009 but a change in jobs and relocation used up the available time I had and forced me to stop and concentrate on my job and family.I started... continue reading
