I've been exited about the last few months. I have been taking a formal course in Photoshop, and have begun to realize what a powerful tool it is. Things I used to wonder about and question are now becoming clear to me. I'm learning about masking, manipulating different layers of a photo, changing the background in a photograph, isolating different areas of a photo and a whole lot more. The things I used to do to my pictures to make them look better have become a lot easier now. I'm anxious to... continue reading

I have finally decided to invest in better equipment, and today I went out to Best Buy and bought the Nikon D7000 SLR camera that seems to produce better quality images than my Olympus E-510 does.I have been playing with it and the controls don't seem that difficult. The camera also has a double and triple exposure feature that I may use in a photo shoot or two.I have a few ideas how I can make that work.I'm anxious to get started...by the way, if anybody wants to buy a used Olympus E-510 and... continue reading
I'm looking to upgrade my digital SLR to a more professional model.I have looked at some cameras online and like (on paper) the Sony alpha A850, and some of the Nikon cameras.I would like suggestions as to what would be a good camera to possess for my future in professional photography.I don't want to spend too much for it, but I am willing to spend between the range of $1000 to $3500.Any suggestions? continue reading
I really love the holidays: beautiful light displays, gifts, parties with friends, beautiful music, friendlier people...but even though I enjoy the season a lot, I'm usually glad when it's all over. Then I can get back to the business at hand, whatever it is.There has been practically no time for photo shoots and editing and submitting photos.I'm raring to get started again at learning this craft and making my first sale.I'll have good memories of this holiday season, and even better memories... continue reading
I just received notice that three more of my images have been accepted.I had originally submitted 58 images and they were all rejected for various reasons.I corrected things that were wrong with the original images and submitted 21 corrected images.Out of the 21, three were chosen. That takes my total uploads to seven. This news has lifted my spirits and I can swing into the holiday season with a renewed energy level and with more confidence in my photo producing ability.Seven online images... continue reading
Well!! The past few weeks have been eventful.Among the things that have happened to me includes the fact that I have had a virus or some bacterial infection that left me weak and not wanting to do anything. All I could do was go to work and come home and sleep for 10 hours. Now I'm feeling better and am anxious to start taking photos again. Before I got sick, I got brave again and decided to download new information into my Olympus E510 camera.I had seen something called firmware that would... continue reading
I was reading my news letter from Olympus Inc. the other day and I saw something that piqued my interest. There was an article about pixel mapping. The article stated that a person could improve the quality of their exposures by doing a simple maneuver using the menu function. The article stated you should pixel map at least twice a year due to the fact that pixels located on your light sensor either malfunction, absorbing too much light causing "hot spots" on your images, or the pixels die,... continue reading
I have decided to upgrade my basic equipment by Christmas, but don't know exactly what to do.I currently use an Olympus E-510 DSLR and I love the kinds of pictures it takes. However, the resolution of a lot of the pictures is not up to snuff when compared to some of the other photos I have seen on this and other websites.I am thinking of purchasing a high grade camera lens in the $800 range and keeping the camera.I'm still using two of the lenses the camera came with when I purchased it.... continue reading
