Great shots happen when you least expect it. So whenever that inner instinct tells you “this can be a good shot”, just grab the camera and click. Rule number one, never click when the vehicle is on the move and you are driving. It can instead be a good opportunity to take pan shots (videos) if you are the co driver and the road is smooth. If you are in the car and while taking photographs, make it a point to roll down the window. A piece of glass in between your object and the camera... continue reading

I just stood there in awe looking at that root bridge. A classic example of the symbiotic relation between humans and nature. This bridge is about 180 years old and it is over the Thylong river.(in India) It is worth mentioning here that the four major clans, Khongsar, Khongthohrem, Khongliar and the Nohwet village had a major role to play in the creation of this living root bridge. You have to go down about 450 steps from the road level to reach the bridge. The entry fee to visit the... continue reading
Had been to Andaman and Nicobar islands recently. Clean air and clean beach are the main highlights of the place. Saw this tree stump on one of the beaches and was wondering how old this could be. Visiting the Samudrika Naval Marine Museum was an afterthought and I am glad we made it (just a few hours before our flight took off from Port Blair) There were many items on display. But what caught my eye was the display of these Turtle shells with a story attached to it. It goes like this:... continue reading
We always wonder why our pictures don’t get sold but others have all the luck. When I first saw this picture I thought, “who would want to buy such a picture” I mean this gives an impression as if the lady is running with the basket trolley in an aisle in the supermarket. Nobody would like to do an advertisement showing that a lady has to sprint across with a basket trolley. But I was so wrong, when I saw that this picture has reached level 4 and downloaded 44 times!!The best way... continue reading
At times blog writers (or writers in general) do face problems of getting the right picture. They may have something in mind and to try to depict the same in a pictorial format or as a supporting picture, is a difficult task. This is where Dreamstime comes to the rescue.I wanted to make a small movie snippet and had a particular scene in mind. The picture that I was looking for had to be Vector based and not a photograph and it had to be slightly leaning towards “happiness and fun”.... continue reading
In the good old days, friendship was just going out for a walk and talking to each other with only your dog eavesdropping. Now friendship is talking to each other on Facebook with the whole world eavesdropping. In the good old days, tablet was something that my dad used to give me to swallow with a glass of water when I was not feeling well.Or the word kindle was something the Famous Five used to do in Enid Blyton’s book when they went camping and wanted to light a fire.... continue reading
People get agitated when they see wrong keyword notification in their in box and some of them respond in an aggressive manner. This a reply I had to send to one such member:- - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -“This is not targeting any individual. If improper keywords are used all the contributors of DT suffers.Take for example your picture of a Pigeon (and it is a good picture)If one of the buyers tries to search for a picture of a Pigeon, there is a good... continue reading

Last week I sauntered into the kitchen and found this big plate all piled up with mangoes which looked very pale.I asked wifey “Hey why so many mangoes and why are they looking pale ?”She said “its all sort of blanched”Me : “Blanched?”Wifey “ Well I don’t know if the technical word is blanched, but what I did was put them in boiling water till they sort of turned slightly yellow and then immediately take them out and cool them”Me “ But who wants to eat boiled and... continue reading
How often do we sit in a pensive mood near a brook and reflect on all the things that nature has given us. Isn’t it nice to feel the water flow beneath your feet as you gaze at the wonderful big tree or the colourful trees that keep changing the leaves according to the season.Isn’t it nice to observe that dandelion bravely standing against the wind.If you sit close and observe you can see each floret getting swept away by the wind (following... continue reading
