Over the course of my time here on DT, I haven't had a lot of extended license sale - mostly stright credit purchases at different levels. Then a couple days ago I look at my account and see a huge jump (for me) in my profits from earlier in the day. I saw it was the same image purchased 3 times, and I figured maybe one was ok, but that the buyer had just been button happy. Then I noticed they bought three different extended licenses - a P, W & I - new first/milestone!!! Here's the image that made... continue reading

A couple weeks back I reached two big milestones - my 3000th image sold, and my 1500th photo in my portfolio!Kayakers receiving instruction was my 3000th sale-My Dad holding a huge Lake Ontario Slamon was my 1500th image accepted into my portfolio -I know a lot of people specialize in what they choose to photograph, but one of the things I like most about my sales here on DT is that I enjoy seeing the wide range and types of photos that people take an interest in.... continue reading
Well, not too long ago I marked my 1,000th upload (1,038 right now). Today, a huge personal milestone - 2,ooo downloads! Here's the lucky image:Given the fact that I have limited time to devote to my photography (my day job has nothing to do with photography), it's pretty exciting to see this come to fruition after a slow first year. To illustrate how things have changed, I sold 91 photos my first year here on DT. This March alone I sold 123.For people just starting here on DT, I can say... continue reading
Between my day job, the holidays, my first two photo assignments and getting ready for our trip to Alaska next month, I haven't found time to post. The last time I posted I said my next goal was to hopefully sell $100 in a month. The end of Janaury I finally broke the mark at $101. March, however, blew it away with $147! Better yet, it wasn't all NASCAR photos, I actually had a number of different types of photos sell, as a group, just as well.I've also crossed the 1,000 photos sold mark,... continue reading
I have't had a chance to post this until now, but a little less than 2 weeks ago, I broke the $1000 mark for sales. An exciting moment, and it helped me fund the purchase of my new Canon 50D! My next goal is to break $100 for a month, which I'm on pace for. Good luck to everyone, and thank to those that have offered encouragement and support here on Dreamstime.L.J. continue reading
A couple of days ago I was surprised to see one of my editoral NASCAR photos sold for almost four times my biggest sale ever. It turns out it was my first extended license sale! The sad thing is I wasn't too excited because I figured it was a mistake, but it's still in there! continue reading
Hey All,Big day today! I started the week at 405 photos after two plus years. As of today, I now have 509! In addition, I'm finally over a 50% acceptance ration for the first time. The best part, though, was having this photo selected as an Editor's Choice selection - my first! It may not seem like that big a deal, but it's very exciting as I never really thought I'd get one selected. It's good to see that is has been a good couple of days for several other people as well.Congratulations... continue reading
New milestone - and it was 2 for 1!This photowas both my 700th download AND it put me over $750 in DT career earnings! IN addition, I was 1 for 1 on photos accepted today, with 62 more editorial racing photos pending. My acceptance ratio is up to 48.8%, so if most or all of the pendings go through, I’ll be over 50% and I’ll be able to double my uploads, which should free up some room to add some more non-racing work!In addition, we also received our first two requests for family portrait... continue reading
When I got my first 2MP point & shoot digital camera from an IT friend of mine several years back, I had no idea where it would lead. Other than a trip to Idaho in 1995, I probably hadn't shot 2 rolls of film in the 10 years before I got that first digital camera. As a poor college student, I didn't have the time or money to devote to learning the ways of film. That all changed with that first little Olympus camera. It was small enough that I could carry it any where. I found that I liked being... continue reading
