Corel Painter 12.2 update released with some helpful bug fixes.
Corel just released it's version 12.2 update to their Painter software. As a professional illustrator who uses Corel daily, these bug fixes are a long awaited addition to the software. First of all, I'm not going to go into detail about the update or any of the new features, you can find that on Corel's website. I'm only going to focus on a few bugs which I noticed have been resolved, but don't seem to be advertised anywhere in the 12.2 update details.
Bug #1 - Masking Crashes: Painter crashes 90 to 100% of the time after adding a mask to a layer. So far, I have been unable to get version 12.2 to crash when adding and manipulating masks. Woo hoo! Before this update, the masks feature was essentially worthless because it would always crash my computer. Coupled with Bug #2, it drove me crazy because I love using masks.
Bug #2 - Slow Startup / Slow Loading 1st Document: For some reason before the 12.2 update, Corel Painter used to take 4-5 minutes to start up and then load the first document. After a document had been loaded, any consecutive documents would open instantly. If you're having the same problem, try the update.
Bug #3 - Stylus Pen Lag: OK, so this has nothing to do with the 12.2 update, but it's a fix I just recently came across for brush lag in Windows Vista and Windows 7. Before this fix, my pen cursor would sometimes freeze or stutter when doing a lot of small taps. This happens because of a conflict between the tablet feature in Windows and your tablet's drivers. To fix the lag, you need to open your services dialog from Administrative Tools in the Control Panel and then disable "Tablet PC Input Service" and restart. That should eliminate the lag.
Visit me on Facebook and let me know if this was helpful. I'm glad to answer any questions.
