When do we need Property Releases?
Hi guys I always worried about property realeses and that is what i found:
In theory if is for editorial you allowed to upload almost everything because is for educational purposes, as we living on a free country.
However Cuba and China they are bit funny about it.
Did you Know that
The Empire State Building is an architectural marvel, and one of the most striking attractions in New York City. The building itself was constructed during the Great Depression and is a monument to that era and the city it so proudly illuminates. The building is trademarked, and thus isolated shots of the building for commercial usage without a property release is not allowed.
Allowed: Cityscapes including the Empire State Building ARE
allowed. (Note: If the Empire State Building IS NOT the primary subject of the photo, it is permitted for use in royalty-free stock).
The Hollywood Sign is trademarked and may also invite copyright as a sculptural work. Since some usage will require a special property release, it is not suitable for to be used for royalty-free stock.
Exterior and interior shots of the NY Stock Exchange require a property release before they may be used for commercial photography.
Allowed: Cityscapes including the NY Stock Exchange ARE allowed. (Note: If the NY Stock Exchange IS NOT the primary subject of the photo, it is permitted for use in royalty-free stock).
The Concorde requires a property release for commercial photography.
The Louvre is one of the largest museums in the world, holding the rich artistic heritage of the French people from the early Capetian.
Shots of the Louvre exterior should be acceptable, however IM Pei's Pyramid should not be featured in any exterior shots.
Photography and filming inside and outside the Louvre for commercial purposes is prohibited. (including but not limited to all architecture and artwork on the Louvre property)
Allowed: Cityscapes including the London Eye ARE allowed. (Note: If the London Eye IS NOT the primary subject of the photo, it is permitted for use in royalty-free stock).
Zoological Locations such as Seaword, San Diego Zoo, Busch Gardens, etc - Logos, images from theme parks, shows, attractions, products, animals, productions, characters or wordmarks are all protected and cannot be photographed for commercial use.
For clarity this policy applies to ALL zoological locations.
ALLOWED: A commercial photo of the Eiffel tower by day is permitted.
TRADEMARK: Photograph of the Eiffel Tower's evening light show cannot be published commercially, and is protected by the creator of the show.
Including: Barbie, Bratz, Fisher-Price and Hot Wheels.
