Exotic Insects

Shield mantis

Having moved to Malaysia a few months ago I now have access to a wealth of fantastic and exotic insects. I have created a Facebook page called Exotic Insects so that others can enjoy the remarkable bugs that we share the planet with.

Some of those photos will shortly appear in my portfolio.

Most of the insects I photograph thrive in the Cameron Highlands, which rise to an altitude of about 3,000 feet. The jungle is cooler and more lush there due to the heavy rains. I try to visit the Highlands every few weeks.

There are aborigines living in the Highlands that still hunt in the traditional manner, with blow pipes. I have made 'friends' with a few and like to practice my Malay during my visits to their villages.

Malaysia is a fascinating country and a photographer's paradise - from the people to the scenery, the frequent gaudy festivals to the spicy foods. There is always something that needs to be 'snapped'!

Excellent! I heard the Cameron highlands make for some amazing shots with the tea plantations. I was in Malaysia many years ago but never got a chance to visit there! Enjoy and lots of pictures.

Hopefully they sell for you. Insect images are not big sellers in the stock world.
