First 100$ milestone (and first blog post)!
Quite happy to have finally made it. I jumped over the 100$ threshold with a 9.90 $ sale of a very green image, which is by far the most I got for a single sale.
I started with dreamstime back in 2010 when I uploaded a couple of images out of curiosity to see whether anybody would buy my images. Not much activity from my side for four years after that, but about a year ago I started again uploading, this time more seriously leading to 765 accepted images and more than 100 $ in sales as of today.
So far, my portfolio includes mostly pictures from two years of living and traveling all over Japan. (Other countries to follow.) They include sights or landmarks as well as more abstract images focusing on patterns, color, textures or details. I am also experimenting with editorial images (usually those with people) and have a few sales there.
I am shooting for my own pleasure and not with stock photography in mind. Don't have the time to do much post processing either, so what you see is more or less straight from the camera.
My most downloaded image, which is also among the first I uploaded, and the most viewed, is a night view of lit-up Matsumoto Castle with red bridge reflecting in the castle moat. Good I brought a tripod that day!
Next milestone is 1000 images in the portfolio and I am thinking of photographing something more suited to stock such as food or perhaps spending more time on post processing or ... in any case I am still learning a lot here.
