First sale and a little story behind the image
Well, looking online this morning I saw that someone has bought one of my photos, which was a great surprise. Of course I'm very happy about this, very happy indeed.
The photo was taken quite recently and was taken as we were on a walk around a small Spanish village called Sedella, which is in the province of Andalucia, Spain. The area is also known as the Axarquia and is a very beautiful part of Spain, having lots of small white painted villages inland, miles of sunny coastline and even mountains! Not huge but definitely and officially mountains.
Anyway, we'd stopped to sit on a bench and look around, soaking up the quiet and the views. It was so peaceful that the time just went and the sun was dropping behind some nearby hills. I took the camera and began taking a few shots, I didn't have a tripod (it was an evening stroll after all) but a very handy wooden post came to the rescue.
I rested the camera on there and took maybe 6 or 7 photos as the sun dropped down and was very surprised with the results when I got back home to look at them on the laptop. They always seem to look so good on the camera viewfinder but can disappoint when viewed on the laptop. From the exif data, the aperture was f/5.6, the exposure time was 1/1250 sec and the ISO was 200. It was one of the few times that I'd been out with the 70-300mm zoom, so I think I was lucky there. It was great to watch the sun go down that way and now doubly so that it's my first sale.
I know it's only one sale but everyone has to start with the first one don't they? So, to the people who are waiting for their first sale, don't give up, keep uploading and it will happen.
