Flickr, is there much point ?

Yes, of course there is. Flickr is a great place to get your name out there and for me is a place to put the files that get declined from this site. You get to meet some great new people and look at what other shots are out there, which may inspire you for something for here. You also get awards on there and other recognition, so what are you waiting for get a google account and get a FREE Flickr account.rnrnHere my flickr account feel free to add as a contact look forward to seeing you work rnrnhttp://www.flickr.com/photos/alexpollardphotography/6790395109/in/photostreamrnrn

Instead of trying to find a home for declined photos, my advice is to go and shoot some new ones. I don't worry about declined shots. I learn from them and move on. A gold brick doesn't pop out every time we push the button. Most of the time its crap. A good photographer is also a good editor.

Trying to get a couple more cheeky views I see and hay if you don't wanna do it fine it's up to you. In my personal opinion it's worth it even just the social aspect of it but if you wanna sit there and keep all your declined picture on a hard drive for no one to see don't let me stop you.

So as long as you not selling them, then its all good :)

I commented with DT and they told me if you are exclusive you can not sell (also not rejected images) on Flickr.

I dont think there is anything wrong with it, makes your name get heard more and you meet new people you also get awards on flickr and some people have started there career from it. Even if you add the files that get declined from here then you are still getting heard.

How in the world do you make money on Flikr? I don't have an account because I'm exclusive here and I think that would be a violation (but I'm not sure). I suppose if I weren't actively selling anything it would be ok? I'd love to know more. But regardless, best wishes on your account! :)

I checked it out and found some disturbing comments about stolen photos like this one: "A few years ago Flickr changed our permissions/privacy settings to automatically allow any image from our photostream to be blogged, and I lost a lot of images that way until I figured out they had made a change and turned off the permission. I found all sorts of stuff that I meant to keep protected out in the "free to take" sphere. Since then, I only put up images with both visual and covert watermarks on any image sharing site. Many people I know will not put up anything more than a 150 dpi image up."

Well thanks for your input "Peanutroaster" and well done for noticing who own Flickr, but if you had an account then you would know you could use a google account. Also if you have a google account it automatically give you an account on youtube with out haveing to fill in your infomation on there. and as for the water marks yes they may add some sense of security but can be easilly removed so why not just let them enjoy your work?

Be sure to watermark any image you post to such a site.
