FREE Firmware update for Canon EOS 7D comes to the US

I came across this information accidentally, and wanted to be sure that all you EOS 7D photogs are aware of the update coming out the beginning of August. It sounds great and will cause me to love my 7D even more.

First, it is FREE. And, if it's free, it's for me. It gets old to have to pay for every little update.

Second, with the upgrade you can now shoot up to 25 RAW images at an 8 fps burst rate, up from the current 15. Great for capturing pictures of a fast moving game, or in my case a series of animal shots.

Third, the update allows custom file naming, in camera RAW processing and re-sizing, simplifying post-capture processing.

Fourth, the ability to establish an ISO range and allow more control when the camera is in ISO Auto mode. That will save me some images, for sure.

Fifth, the ability for videographers to manually set 64 audio levels prior to recording a video.

Sixth, compatibility with the new Canon GPS receiver.

This sounds like an update that will add a LOT of functionality and is certainly offered at the right price. Check the Canon USA website in early August and update your Canon EOS 7D

@Shamtor. It is the first update since I bought my digital SLR. I am more happy than surprised. I paid good money for my camera, and it seems right the updates should be free. But in some cases I feel like things should be free and they are not. So I am happy not to be disappointed in Canon's policy.

Why you are surprise? All Canon firmware upgrade are free and I think Nikon too have the same logic.
