I've been a member of DT since 2011. For the 1st few months of membership I have not uploaded anything, as I am trying to know what to upload. After another 2-3 months, I uploaded several images, and got 53% approval rate. From here I see how it goes since I'am new to stock photography...no sales for the few months...then frustration sets in.....I get tire..almost forget my username and log on for not visiting DT website. then on Aug of last year, something itch me to visit my account..to my surprise I got few sales and 13$ earning...I said "WOW"..this drives me nuts.....and start upload more images.
To this date I got 451 images online...and 74 sales. My target goal is to have atleast 1000 image by the end of the year to hopefully generate more sales.

Number one enjoy doing photography...... then 2 learn from editor's comments ... then 3 get better and better and make money.
I think illustrators seem to do best here but I am not sure. Maybe others could comment on pro's and con's of photography versus illustrations as regards earning money.

Following the reasoning of Igor I have controlled also my number of sales from august 2012.
It result I uploaded about 250 images from august 2012.
These images produced 45 sales.
Other 140 sales has been produced by earlier images (I started to upload images in june 2011).
So also in my opinion you are actually in good position regarding sales.

again and again I remind myself - if I focus on sales and not on my passion in taking photos - what is it all about then? just another job? love what you do and people will see that, which will then automatically, as a side effect, result in sales

Thanks for those kind encouragement words. I start to think, that, why do I focus myself to earnings and sales? /maybe I should look the otherway around, but focus on my photographic skills to improve further, there's always room to improve. I'll keep shooting, and uploading and forget about sales and earning, think this is much more fun enjoyable.
BTW you all got nice ports as well....

I was in the same situation but the only way to get over the hurdle is to keep submitting images. I came to the realization that I have to put in the work to get better images and that sales will come over time with more inventory in my portfolio. I am slowly getting more submissions approved. I am starting to carry my camera with me everywhere I go to try to get more shots, approved submissions and increased sales. It is nice to hear that you were able to start contributing again. I will also try to be more productive if not to increase sales but to get better at photography.

For last year (since August 2012) I uploaded almost the same number of images as you (400+). And they gave my 74 sales in total, the main bulk of sales (~650) came from earlier images.
So, you should not be frustrated: your statistics are more or less normal.
