The gingerbread couple that made us very happy.

Hello again,

Well, finally the sunny weather from the continent arrived to the British Isles and the Met Office assures us that it will stay with us for the next few days. We are basking in the lovely sun and there is not a single cloud above our heads. No, not even a fluffy one. Nope! Just amazing blue sky all over. Just what we needed after weeks and weeks (and weeks!) of rain and cold winds.

But last weekend, well, it was different. We were still so miserable! We all had a cold. We slept late and dragged ourselves from beds wrapped in our dressing gowns, we even had a fire in the fireplace! We sat there coughing and blowing our noses and looking sadly through the window at rain and grey sky. It was at this moment that my husband said we need to do some baking.

What a clever man my husband is! Soon enough our children were making happy mess of flour and sugar on the wooden table, there was mixing and then cutting shapes and then a wonderful gingery smell filled our house and... It suddenly felt more like Christmas than anything else!

So, as we all felt so very happy and festive I simply couldn’t resist taking a photo of a lovely gingerbread couple under a Christmas tree :-) (which was really a little twig of a small Christmas tree from our back garden).

And they were very tasty too! :-)

Kphotos6411, thank you very much for your comment. We occasionally think how lovely it would be to live somewhere very sunny all the time, although I also think I would miss the seasons :-) We are having a very gentle autumn at the moment and a lot of mild weather, sunny days and beautiful colours on trees. But we did some more baking today and I hope some more of our festive cookies (we are practising for Christmas!) should appear on Dreamstime soon! Ewapix

I probably should not say this, but, I live in Florida, USA. We have sunshine almost all the time. Would send you some, if I could. I love gingerbread cookies and can almost taste yours. Wish you lots of sales!

I wish you a lot of sun !

Glad the weather has improved for you, we too are sick of the cold, wet wintery weather, especially given that it is now spring here! I agree, what better way to spend a dreary day than baking gingerbread, I love the stuff!

Yes, it makes me think I wish I lived somewhere where this kind of weather last for longer than a few days only! By the way, I had a look at your portfolio - curiosity! it will kill me one day! :-) - and I love the photo of your autumn leaves (the lever 3 photo). What a beautiful photograph. I am now trying to use the weather and photograph something similar, but my attempts are so pathetic! Your autumn leaves are truly inspirational and make me think I need to work harder in hope to achieve this level of beauty in a photo. Ewapx

Thanks for bringing a smile, it`s been rainy and gloomy here in the mid-Atlantic USA as well. I`m baking bread today to see if I can lift my families spirits!

I really hope it made you all feel better! Ewapix PS I wish I could try your bread. There is nothing better than a freshly baked bread!
