A Great Souvenir Idea For Photographers

After you've been traveling for a while, you start to accumulate many random kick-knacks from batiks to bowls. And your friends and family may sigh and say "yet another _______"? The truth is, when you have traveled, a lot souvenirs start to look the same. I've found very similar socks and mittens in both Kathmandu and Peru which made me question about where my gifts are actually coming from.

For me souvenirs are a little bit about the culture, not something that's mass replicated.

So what is a good gift then?

Maps and magazines. Maps because there are so many uses for them (and you can get some really amazing ones as well) and magazines because it shows the local culture. And let's not forget photography. Lots and lots of amazing pictures! The trick is though is to get them right before you leave the country. While maps are easy to pack, magazines are not. You don't want to lug something around if you don't have to.

Are there any magazines in your country that are popular or local that would be good souvenirs?

Hi, thanks for stopping by!
My name is Angela from Edmonton and somedays I work as a travel photographer picking up a few odds and ends on the side. I love people and visiting new places and have a long list of things I want to see. If you could drop me a line when you buy my photos and let me know where they are being used, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much.
