Hampi, a photographer's paradise

Hampi Vijaya Vittala Temple

If you ever plan to visit India, one place you must include in your itinerary is Hampi in the state of Karnataka. Recently I had a chance to visit this magnificent ruins of a prosperous empire called Vijayanagara which literally means “The City of Victory”in the local language of Kannada. Vijayanagara empire ruled South India for over two centuries from 14 AD.The ruins of Hampi, as it is known today, is a vast open museum of history, architecture and religion

The giant stone chariot at Hampi Vijaya Vittala Temple

As the epicenter of Hampi's attractions, Vittala Temple is the most extravagant architectural showpiece of Hampi. No amount of words can explain this spectacle. The temple is built in the form of a sprawling campus with compound wall and gateway towers. A giant stone chariot, music pillars, highly ornate gateways and pillars and intricate stone carvings can really take your breath away

Apart from these, there are other attractions such as Virupaksha temple, Lakshminarasimha temple, giant Shivalinga, the Royal Enclosure, Lotus Mahal and many more and certainly Hampi is a photographer’s paradise
