Help and advice

Hi,

If its not too much trouble and convienient for you.... could you have a look at my collection and see if there is anything that stands out for you ?

Just a bit concerned at the little downloads that I get on this site - hopefully it is not the content that is putting people off.

ALL comments are welcomed

Thanks

Steve

You are on the right track, lots of diversification. You simpley need to do more of it and the downloads will come.
 Good luck tiles

Steve, as everyone says below, the key is to keep uploading quality image, and just wait around, another important thing is to promote your portfolio, by taking part in community here in DT.

Again - Thank you for your comments and I certainly will continue to grow the portfolio. I know that some people have 1000's of images and get 1000's of downloads. This is my hobby and "camera fund" so am not looking to turn pro and rule the world of stock photography.... but then again.... who knows !?
I am currently using a Canon G10 and finding it great, but am going to be investing in a Canon D500/Rebel T1 as soon as I can afford it.

I have started to add images into "My Collections" and hopefully that will also encourage interest.

Thanks again to all :-)

It takes time... My downloads per 100 images online in the first 3 months were about a sixth what they are now. There is no doubt that you need to keep growing your portfolio and improving your quality over time if you want sales to grow. Keep your acceptance ratio high; think about how someone might use your photos.

Stephen, just keep uploading and the sales will come. I have been uploading for 3 years now and been here for almost 2 years. I have over 2000 images and finally seeing some real income. Just hang in there, upload your best and be patient. Your port looks good so far. Keep up the good work. Good luck

Hi Steve,

You're doing the right thing to be evaluating your own work but at this early stage, with so few images, it has limited benefit. You shouldn't be discouraged by sales levels yet, wait to you've buily up a few hundred images or so at least and then see how you're going. However, while building your portfolio be mindful to maintain quality. While stock is still a numbers game a few hundred strong images is better than having 1000 very average shots.

I'd say you're off to a good start. Looks like you have a good eye for composition and an awareness of providing concept type images too, both of which should see you do well.

Its a though game is mircostock, one I am still learning myself. One thing I did notice was that once I had over 100 images uploaded did I start to see any sales. Its hard as a contributer to comment on what exactly buyers want, guess if we knew that we would be doing it and uploading more of these types of images. I agree with previous comments by Maen and Caroline, keep them coming and build a sizeable PF that can be noticed in the searches (number wise), and in particular look at the latest images sold and popular images, besides the search words used to find these images take note of the types of images, then try taking your own unique style/creation of the most wanted images.

Thanks for your comments - I am getting more images out there and trying the Vector market as well - hopefully we will all see an increase.

I've not been here very long myself. From my experience, as I've uploaded more images the sales have grown. So each month I've had more sales than the last. Because we haven't got very big portfolios we aren't showing up in very many places. I've tried to combat this by blogging and creating collections. The more you put yourself out there the more potential customers see you. I've also got a free image. When you click on my free image to download it, it shows other images from my portfolio, which brings in other potential buyers. Every little bit helps. Your portfolio looks good, Christmas images will be selling from now I would think. I haven't got any so I missed that boat this year :0) Keep on uploading and I'm sure the sales will pick up each month as your portfolio grows and more people see it. Cheers Carol. PS. I'm also trying out the assignment this time around. I'm not sure whether it will bring extra buyers to my port or not, but it's good to try these things out.
