A helping hand for the newbies

One of the other Dreamstime contributors here called Davidwattsjr has come up with and put into use the idea of buying one image from another contributor and stating what he likes about it. I think this is a great idea and decided to do something similer.

Do you remember when you first joined DT and you waited patiently for that first sale? I do! and I also remember the feeling of elation it brought with it. What I want to do is look at a portfolio with no sales, buy what i think is the best image in that portfolio and show it on a blog with 2 others from the same portfolio that i think should be worth a sale or two.

I wont be going into as much detail as david does in his blogs as the point of my series of blogs is to get the ball rolling for some of our newbies.

I'll start this series off with this image

from a newbie called Jakob Jeske from Germany. I absolutely HATE insects but just love the colours in this image. Here's another two from Jakob's portfolio

Good luck with your Dreamstime career Jakob.

I see you have 1 sale already and the point of this series of blogs is to give a newbie their first sale. You only have 2 images so far but they are great so keep uploading and watch the sales come in. :-)

Great idea antony! I'm going to check out Jakobjeske's portfolio myself here in a second. I really like the first picture with the shiny beetle. When I was a child, I had a 10-gallon terrarium on the back porch that I created myself. After a few seasons, it finally reached the balance it needed to maintain itself year after year. I would collect beetles, caterpillars, baby turtles, and even frogs for this terrarium (eventually I created more, so the frogs wouldn't eat the beetles). Not only did I collect them, but I also let the tiny baby turtles grow half a season larger before releasing them, so as not to be as readily eaten by the local wildlife. Many of my insects would reproduce, too. I would release most of them after the populations grew (overcrowding is not good). Some of my favorite beetles were very shiny ones like the one above. They reminded me that even though they are relatively tiny in size, they are just as beautiful as any thing else in this world.
