Reading through some things on facebook today I came across this article by Brenda Tharp. It got me thinking about what places, people, books, music or other works have influenced me in my work. I thought that maybe you would find it interesting too
I'm certain that my time here at Dreamstime and interacting with you has influenced my work for the better. Hope you enjoy it. :)

RE your comment to my latest blog (follow-up)
you mentioned kids, did you say kids? and you said you 're sort of feeling lost for inspiration to shoot?
as Paulo Coelho hinted in The Alchemist, many times we look everywhere for gold, when the treasure is actually right there under our noses.
Kids photos are popular in all micro stock sites. I see lots of sellers with kids images. Sounds like you're missing out on your best resources. Get that Model Release form out, and fill in the names of your kids,
and get shooting. You don't know how much conceptual images you have for children and parents family fun, family activity, emotions,etc... you can make with your kids.
And at the end of time, when you make lots of money from the dls,
you can reward your models for their participation .
And you can send me a check too (or download my photographs) in gratitude for giving you a jump start to your "mental block" for 2010.
you cannot be lost for ideas with kids around.

It's the blue words "The Influences of Personal Vision" in the middle between the images. I disguised it ;)

i think your quote from Ansel Adams ,one quite similar to my favorite quote of Richard Avedon, or many great masters for all that matters, says it all.
when we let things we experience influence our photography or painting, it's like a watermark , or Ernst Haas calls it "something unique as our soul".
it brings life, personality , a birthmark into our work. any artist who does that need not copy anyone. also even if anyone copies you, they might be able to copy the construction of the image, but never the depth of the image. this is what we call style. much like you can clone madonna or sinead oconnor, but there is still only one madonna or sinead.

Yes, it's true what that article said. Often I create illustrations hearing my favourite songs. An example? Surely "night breed", tribute to a song of moi dix mois, Japanese metal band that I discovered about a year ago and I like it a lot
[imgl]https://www.dreamstime.com/night-breed-image11183846[/imgl]
or "the grim mayor", that I realized thinking about "Spoon River Anthology"

It's simple draw inspiration about songs, books or other arts we met but, sometimes, it's not so easy realize something that exactly represents the feelings we have in our heart when hear/read/see something special for you!
