When life gives you lemons...

...it's time to make lemon-aide.

This winter weather has me thinking about summer time I suppose. Hot days and cool drinks are on my mind as the snow falls outside.

Something as simple as picking up a bag of lemons at the supermarket lead me to create a number of lemon based photographs, topped off with a cool glass of lemon-aid. My concoction included some leftover club soda from the fridge.

This classic lemon-aid recipe uses a lot of honey for a more refined taste.

Honey Lemon-Aid - Basic Recipe

1 gallon water

1 1/2 quarts fresh lemon juice

4 cups sugar

1 cup honey

Combine water, fresh lemon juice, sugar, and honey in a large pitcher. Stir. Taste. Refrigerate for 2 hours before serving.

Spike it!

If your chores are done, why not kick back and relaxed with a little adult version?

For whisky spiked lemonade, use approximately 1.5 to 3 ounces whisky (recommended: Southern Comfort) for every 8 ounces of lemonade.

Yes, I have seen "The Groundhog Day", you know the comedy about the TV weather man. You must tell us if you see/eat one tomorrow! The groundhog, not the weatherman.

We have Fat Thursday. Better yet we have Groundhog's Day coming up Feb. 2nd. We find a ground hogs (a large rodent) hole and wait around to see if it pops out of its hole. We use it to predict weather conditions. If it sees its shadow it will get scared and go back down into its hole and we are doomed to six more weeks of winter. If it doesn't see its shadow, then we still get six more weeks of winter but we get to eat the ground hog. Its a fine dish served with turnips and parsnips.

Oh, Ed, really, don't you have Shrove Tuesday? It is very traditional here. How about Fat Thursday (although this is more middle and eastern Europe: we used to eat doughnuts filled with raspberry jam) or something like that? It is generally the day before before lent starts. Shrove Tuesday is the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras?

Never heard of it. Visited London and Windsor about two years ago. Loved it! Sadly it was before I upgrade my equipment.

Or use the lemons for pancakes with sugar and lemon - on Pancake Day also known as Shrove Tuesday, 21st of February. But only if you live in England, I suppose? Or do you have that tradition in the USA too?

Congratulations! Very healthy! Did you use daylight from the evening in your corner? The light looks quite warm. From the exif data I can see that you also used a flash.

great recipe!

would you consider adding my 21808788 to your Train collection?

Thanks, all were in natural light. I have a corner that gets light from two sides and skylights. Works out well for food. The dark background one was with black foam board and some serious increase of black in Lightroom.

Excellent recipe, lemons in Sicily there are certainly ^ _ ^ Thank you for the beautiful pictures taken, I like the warm light and diffused and the various compositions that you have realized with lemons!
