More money...less work

Unless RF stock is the only gig (or the main gig) you've got going, I would argue that being exclusive is definetly worth your while.

I have already gone over my reasons for my Exclusive Decision in another blog post, so I am not going to repeat those points.

One thing that I didn't take into account is that I am doing ALOT less uploading and tracking and categorizing than before, and I have not lost very much income by not uploading to other sites. Prior to becoming exclusive here, I uploaded to 7 sites. Only two other sites made me any money worth mentioning, but I have made back the income from one site with the additional 10% income from exclusive sales. The $0.20/image that I made when I went exclusive is more than I would have made in a YEAR at the second site, so I would say that, for now, I have broken even, at the very least.

Besides making more money, though, I have more time to actually get out there and SHOOT! More time to make images means more stock to upload.

Bottom line is that I put less time in and make just as much money, which is more true to what I became active in stock for to begin with. Residual income!

I have deployed a few times to Afghanistan and Iraq so if you don't see images that you need in my portfolio, send me a request and I can search through my hundreds of images to see if I might have what you are looking for.

I think most people benefit from diversifying their stock across the 'big four'. In reality through, the returns are negligible in real world terms for most contributes so I suppose it doesn't really matter.

Creepers, Exclusivity is not for everyone, but the uploading is not the only reason to BE exclusive. Any agency will tell you that it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to protect your images without exclusivity because the person who STOLE your images is not going to tell you which agency they stole them from and even those who use the images beyond their licensing can get away with it if the image could have been purchased at multiple locations. I don't know what your sales are at other sites but tripling 17 sales in over two years isn't saying much.

I agree that being exclusive make life much easier, no more monitoring site after site. As soon as I get my portfolio built up here, I hope that it will more lucrative!

I completely disagree. I was exclusive with the best known agency. Since i´ve cancelled my exlusivity, i´ve lost my exlusivity bonus, but have know triple income!! If you have a proper program, you don´t need too much time, to upload to several agencies. For me, no more exclusivity.

I completely agree with you on this. Being exclusive is so much easier, and it allows you all the extra time in the world to shoot and edit without the pain of keywording and categorizing a zillion different times. Nice image too!
