For some time I have been aspiring to learn to make images and animations in 3D program Blender, but ventured only in basic shapes and understandig the very basics of the vary basic. I even made short animations, but my PC is too slow to render it at a reasonable quality.
This week I persisted, and created my first (and from my point of view, successfull) image. It is a couple of two simple antique yellow cups with a deep blue background and only a bit of light casting over them. I wanted to create an images that is an invitation to a cup of tea or coffee, in a serene, peaceful, quiet place. This is what I came up with:
Now I'm dreaming further and have these otrher images dancing in my head. I'm willing to learn more and more just to be able to get them out in to the world.
I'm glad I persisted and that I could find and start to learn Blender. It is my new love.

Good render quality... im with i7 4970k

Great @Eranicle, I'm always afraid to add subdivisions, it limits a bit modeling. I'm meshing up from now on!
I guess I'll have to sell some renders to buy a new decent PC. lol
Eranicle
You are welcome.
Ussually, increasing a mesh subdivisions a little will not increase your render time (maybe a little) but, it will require more RAM. The more poly count, the more RAM will be used. And time of render depends on your CPU, not on amount of RAM, graphic card or hard disk.
Celiaak
Thank you all for the heads up.
Eranicle, I was using cycles, 1000 samples, and could not render on GPU, so all the work was on CPU, and what an old one, runing on an AMD phenom 2.2 Gh, no dedicated graphics card and only half of ram memory (one of two is broken). Anyway, I think the problem it is somewhere in the PC, it is slow for everything else.
Thank you for the tip on mesh subdivisions, I havent noticed it on the bottom, oops!
Do you think the more meshes, the more time PC is calculating final render?
Eranicle
Nice start, Celia)
But, 24 hours for 3K resolution image? What is a CPU do you have? Maybe also something wrong with your render settings?
Anyway, its fine for first 3d image, the only thing I can to advise you, when you do final render, try to increase your mesh subdivisions (just smooth it more), because you can see at the bottom line of the cups some visible corners.
Keep it up

What a great picture:)) Congratulations, and keep up the good work:-)

I very like this ;) congrats!

Congratulations!

Alvera, thank you for your advice. But unfortunately my PC can't handle it. It took almost 24 hours to render just half of the image! Most of the time, it goes out of memory. I wish I could uplgrade to a better PC or at least a better video card, but it is just too old.
Celiaak
FabioConcetta, the PC was almost catching fire, it was so hot by the end of render!!

Thank you all for your nice comments. BCritchley, it is nice to create 3D images, right?

Nice!!
Imagesbykenny
Very impressive.
Alvera
Wonderful. Love it. But please render at higher resolutions. Go beyond 60Mp. Blender has an infinite "sensor" :)
FabioConcetta
Congratulations for this beautiful picture, I really like the realistic effect (HDRI) that you've been able to control. Be careful not to push too long to render, your computer could collapse, mine was about to self-destruct ^ _ ^

O, What a great picture!

It looks great, I wouldn't tell it was your first attempt if I saw it on the website :) I'd love to start creating 3d images too, but I'm still learning illustrator.
Heywoody
Nice texturing and lighting
BCritchley
Nice job, looks like we are starting out in 3D rendering at the same time, look forward to seeing more of your creations :)
