My First Level 3

I was very happy this morning to learn that one of my images reached level 3. What a nice surprise. It was approved on Dec. 24, 2009.

I've been involved in photography as a hobbyist for 40 years starting out with 35mm film cameras where nothing was automatic. I'm glad I did because it forced me to learn the relationship between aperture, shutter, and ISO. Then I got my first point and shoot digital camera, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. I played with that for a couple of years and loved the fact that I no longer had to carry around camera bodies and 30 pounds of lenses, filters, flashes, etc.

But discovered that I couldn't do everything with my P&S that I could with my old film cameras. So now I've gone full circle. Once again I'm carrying around camera bodies and a bag full of the other necessary equipment. My cameras are normally set to Manual mode but I do take advantage of Autofocus most of the time.

I do keep a P&S in my vehicle for those "emergency" photo ops though.

I've found the DT community to be a very friendly and helpful place.
