My first year at DT
Today a year ago my first batch of pictures was accepted by DT. Here is one of them:
I remember how excited I was about it. At that moment I thought: "This is it, I’m going to become a great photographer, and surely famous with my pictures all over the world"))). But in a couple of weeks I had to face stark reality. No sales at all. I checked every hour waiting for the first sale, fondly believing that the more times I press renew button the more chances to sell I got. Wrong assumption)). The first sale came in a month on the 24th of April. And here it is):
I rember how happy I was that day!)
This was a very exciting year. And I’ve learnt a lot. I’ve learnt not to be furious about rejections, as I used to be my first months. I believe, I’ve improved the quality of my photos although there are far from being perfect. I’ve learnt that being in micro stock is not so easy, in fact, it’s a hard work constantly thinking of new ideas and looking for ways of its implementing. Oh! This reminded me of another thing I've learnt: unfortunately I’m not mentally connected to my camera and that’s why can’t just project a picture in my mind to the matrix of the device))) This was frustrating at first too)
Up to date I’ve managed to increase my portfolio up to 143 pictures with 64 sales.
This is one of my recently accepted photos
My portfolio exposure makes up 0.56%.
I’ve got my first level 2 picture.
And another picture is almost there):
I understand it’s not much, but still something). I’ve not got my first 100USD yet, but at least now I know that it’ll definitely happen one day (I used to have some doubts))).
Looking for ways to diversify my port I’ve made my first illustrations ever, and this is what I like about micro stock – you make yourself do something new - and this is a unique experience.
I’ve improved my acceptance ratio.
And what is very important, I became a favourite photographer for a number of DT members and some of them are buyers. (Wow! Somebody likes my pictures!))) And this is very supportive, as makes me more confident in myself and my pictures.
Thank you DT members! Especially those who are reading this blog)) Thank you for sharing your ideas and experience, your view on surrounding world. With your blogs and portfolios I travel to distant places all over the world, see wonders of micro world and human mind, get glimpses at the mysterious spiritual world… I think this has made me more broadminded person than I was.
And “Thank You” DT for creating such a friendly community!
Ooops, finished my article as at the Oscars with all these “thank you”)))) Didn't intend to do this)
P.S. To celebrate my first year I've just uploaded this image to Free section)
