Newbie awaiting review

I’m a brand new member with just seven pictures approved so far.

I’m learning the hard way (with only a 20.7% approval rating) that photos of a very common subjects is not what Dreamstime is interested in. In the future I won’t bother with pictures of trees, flowers, etc. I will now focuse more on a unique approach.

Unfortunately, my first aerial photo was rejected. I have another 96 pictures pending including another 30 aerial shots. I hope a good portion of them will make the cut.

I’ve seen it written (somewhere on this site) that Dreamstime’s standards for pictures is always increasing. Is this something that some of you long term Dreamstime users have noticed?

That is, a higher rejection rate than you used to see?

I'll check back in about a week and let you know of my approval status and what I've learned from the process.

Welcome, and good luck! Before I upload a photo for review, I always ask myself the question, will someone out there be interested to pay money to use this photo? You must also keep in mind that the reviewers are humans, and will will look at your photo and think, "wow!" while another may think "what a waste!" So never take a rejection personally, after all, the photo gets reviewed, not the photographer. In some way, people might say they are just lucky to get a photo accepted, and unlucky to get rejected, but remember, the more you practice, the luckier you get!

Hang in there is does improve, and strangely enough so does the quality of the photos you take, as you realise how many good images there are out there, you tend to strive for that little bit more...
